Chapter 11 - Javen The Building Company 1

The next thing I did was start to gather the materials.

For that, mana was such a cheat, I just materialized blades around my hands and chopped wood that way, sadly I can't yet send mana slashes, I don't have quite enough control for that to be efficient.

Then I carried the logs that way, removed the branches, which I reused as a way to mark out what I plan to build

My current plan is to build 3 buildings, one would be a workshop for woodworking and smithing, another for anything related to fabric and leatherwork, the last one would function as emergency storage if I have no more space to throw my stuff around in the workshops as well as a sleeping and cooking space.

Though I did leave a tiny spot where I plant to build a campfire and something on top that'd let me smoke meat.

After that I made a pile from the logs that I brought back and went to the mountain on the other side of the river, I want to try some stuff.

After a bit of walking, I reached a rocky patch where I attempted to make a bomb from mana.

To be precise, I already know how, just that I never bothered to learn how to do it with neutral mana, mana without any attribute like fire or ice.

The thing is, using fire magic for explosions is just easier and more efficient, since it's very simple to do.

With neutral mana it requires more nuance.

I use my experience when I used water magic to create an explosion similar to that of fire magic, but I must send out a two blobs of unstable mana of varying levels separated by barriers in a single bigger barrier.

Once the two smaller barriers disappear, the unstable mana blobs mix and go boom, the bigger barrier is just there to prevent the mana from scattering.

The reason for that is that unstable mana, or mana released as is, meaning with no imbued in it, just dissipates in the surrounding mana, which also has equally little intent in it and also there is so much of it that if there is little enough intent in the released mana, it just dissipates.

But since the surrounding mana is without any intent, this requirement for the amount of intent in mana is small.

The reason I use mana of varying instability levels is difficult to explain. Imagine you have on cold thing and one colder thing, if you put the cold thing to the colder thing, the cold thing tries to match the colder thing's temperature.

This is the case for mana and its relationship with stability.

Mana is free, it wants to be free, but because its free, it can be 'ordered' or 'asked' to do something, but it naturally just want to become free again.

This reaction causes an explosion if the different between instabilities is big enough.

This is the case for when I tried to imitate fire magic explosions using water magic

If I used science to do this, I'd have to split an oxygen or hydrogen molecule, but–

Why am I unnecessary things, less thinking more doing.

I formed two hollow spheres of mana, imbued said instable manas in them, waited for the barriers to thin out enough, then put them in a bigger barrier and threw that onto the pile of rocks.

Now, say it with me

EXPLOSION!!!!

I'm kidding, this method worked, but the explosions was so small it didn't even damage the stone, it just generated a small aftershock.

Anyways, I did the next logical thing, increased the difference between the instabilities, this time did this at my max capabilities and threw it again

BOOOM!!!

Now that's better, but the aftershock blew me back and the explosion threw a couple of small boulders and some more dirt chunks my way.

Next time I should make the barriers last longer.

But I still went to the rocks and inspected them. I'm mainly checking for micro cracks, since mining with explosions has a tendency to lead to the boulders getting them in their insides.

I had some mana pass through each boulder and sure enough, every single decent sized chunk had them, so I selected the ones with the least micro cracks.

Since what I'm building is a residence in which I only plan to spend less than a decade, or until I get properly geared up and my stats grow beyond 100 each.

For my furniture that'll have to house temperature inside, I'll have to be more picky, but for the house it'll be fine.

Now that I've explained how I'll get my boulders, over the span of 2 weeks I only did just that, gather stone and gravel and chopped down trees.

On the side I also searched for food, especially seeds, also I searched and found a clay spot, it's not big, but more than enough for my needs.

But then a fun thing happened.

[You have received a notification]

[Congratulations for officially leaving the wish-granting space, I hope we've given you enough time to familiarize with the new Earth.

Since everyone must've found a way to settle in now, we'll start releasing stronger and stronger beings in this world, from simple wolves to beast of untold might, whatever the species managed to evolve into on the copy of this Earth we made.

Mysterious structures will appear on Earth, ranging from dungeons and ruins to temples of divine beings.

After a year (no, you don't get a countdown), each surviving sentient being will receive a quest, be sure to prepare your best for it.

Make sure to have fun, the System]

To be honest, this isn't something urgent for me.

I'm first a creator, then comes any other description of me, ignoring my race and gender.

Also, this'll happen in a year, and since I have mana, any project of mine will for sure speed up.

To put it in simple terms, I'm ignoring this and leaving it to future me.

Back to work.

First, I dug three pits, two extra large and deep ones and one even deeper, but not as wide or long.

The first two will be my workshops for different crafts, the last one is storage, as I've said before.

Then I slowly laid the foundation, big boulders at the bottom, smaller ones on top and the smallest to wedge the gaps.

Since I have no mortar, I had to carefully lay the stones as I made minor adjustments to make them fit better.

Then I made some charcoal from burning wood and turned that and gravel into additional layers, for moisture absorption.

The next step is building the frame.

Since I have mana and the ability to make mana blades, I used that to make mortise and tenon joints and made the frame using those joints, which I put on the logs I prepper for the house.

Once the frame was done, I made holes in key places in which I inserted wooden pegs.

In the mean time I also prepper stone for the walls, which also posed problems of stability so I had to custom fit each one to make walls.

To ease my worries of stability even more, I specially made the stone walls over 50cm thick and 1.2 meters tall and that's when I realized my mistake.

I forgot to prepare the groves for the planks I'll use as a wall material above the stone wall.

So I did the only smart thing and disassembled the top (never doing that, removing the pegs was a pain in the ass I could only wish upon enemies) and started to prep that.

So I cut groves into the main logs, made the planks, then slide them into place and seal the gaps with moss.

I didn't do perfect fits mainly because as temperature changes, wood also changes in size, so moss will help with that.

Then assembled everything again.

Also left spaces for windows, but for now I left them empty, I'll tackle that problem later.

The main reason is that I can't make glass yet since I found no quartz sand.

I'll probably make a fabric, oil it and then hang it to block out cold, or drench it in water to make it colder.

Anyways, for the roof, I only gathered long branches and left those on top for now, a temporary measure since once I get a kiln going, I'll be making proper clay tiles.

All of that took a month and a half for context, mana for the win I say.
