Samuel Carter died on a Tuesday.
Not dramatically. No heroic last stand, no tragic accident with meaning. Just a stupid slip on wet tiles in the bathroom of his shitty two-bedroom apartment in Queens, New York .
Twenty-three years old, part-time delivery guy, full-time nobody. He'd been rushing to grab his phone after a late-night order pinged—extra pay for the rain—and his sock hit the soapy water residue.
His head cracked against the sink edge. Lights out.
He didn't feel the impact for long. One second the world was spinning porcelain and fluorescent buzz; then nothing happened.
Then something happened
He opened his eyes—or whatever passed for eyes now—and found himself floating in endless gray. Just mist that smelled faintly like wet sand he like the smell of wet sand, especially the kind after a little drizzle and the sun came back up.
A voice spoke. Deep, amused, like thunder someone had taught manners.
"CONGRATULATIONS SAMUEL CARTER, YOU HAVE WON THE RIGHT TO REINCARNATE IN A FANTASY WORLD!!"
"Who the hell are you. " He wanted to shout but he couldn't do it for some odd reason.
"Oh well I'm the GOD OF REINCARNATION and you are in my realm, Limbo and as I said you have obtained the right to travel to a fantasy world of my choosing" The being answered back to Samuel.
"Why me though, I mean I'm thankful for this opportunity I really am. But I'm not that special, one of the main factors of my death was soap, literal soap. " He said wallowing in self pity.
"That's why I'm choosing you, I like to give the underdogs a chance let them be something in their new life. So tell me Samuel what's your favorite piece of fiction to read." He asked the soul.
" I always liked the manhwa 'solo leveling ' it felt nice seeing someone so weak become a SOMEBODY. It was my favorite manhwa to read as a kid and a adult. "Samuel said.
"Hmm okay we can actually do that. I'll give you a system catering to the solo leveling universe. It will be a tiny bit different but it will serve its purpose to you. " The god decided for Samuel.
"Will my system be controlled by an entity like the architect, cause I don't really like sentient system it throws me off. "Samuel asked the God curiously and a bit frightening.
"Ohhh, you don't need to worry about any architect,you might even become one." The god answer the boy.
"I'm sorry what was that last part about."He asked hearing the god mumble something.
"Its okay kiddo don't worry about it." He said.
"Its time I choose your world for you to reincarnate in. Give me a minute will ya." The god requested.
10 minutes later :
"I'm back so how was the wait ?" The god asked Sam who was seen floating around.
"It was OK time feels funny around here." He responded back.
"Welp I have decided, I'm sending you to the ....PERCY JACKSON UNIVERSE." The god said .
"I KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING ABOUT THAT WORLD. I watched the first movie when I was like 10 years old, and I just hated Annabeth she just pissed me off." He complained to the god.
"Well I'm sorry to hear that, it's time you get going lemme just explain some things.
First, you aren't stealing anyone's body this is your body it was just on autopilot to make things simpler all the choices the body made is something you would have made yourself. Second, you'll be 15 years old when you wake up, ten months before the plot starts . Third, you'll get your memories a few seconds after you get into the body and IT WILL HURT LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER so try finding something to chew on."The god told him. "Its time for you to go kid."
"Thank you I appreciate this very much." He said this while he started disentagrating.
15 Years Later
In the area of Manhattan in a two story house we see a teenager, who is busy chewing on a blanket. 'Hmmm is it not coming or was the god messing with me. Then it's a rel. ' " Mnmnnn aaaaaahhggg gaaaaaa FUUUUUCK mbnbnbnnnnnnnmnnnn !" He screamed in pain for about a minute almost losing his breath.
"Sun ov na bitch !!" He shouted out in pain. "He wasn't kidding about that pain."
