Chapter 107: Operation Wedding Planning
(Jay Jay's POV)
I was officially convinced.
Planning a wedding was harder than surviving Section E.
And that was saying something.
Three days after the engagement, our dining room had transformed into a full-blown wedding headquarters.
Guest lists covered the table.
Venue brochures were scattered everywhere.
Flower samples sat in little glass jars.
And somehow, despite having absolutely no authority, Section E had claimed ownership of the entire operation.
Jay:
"Why are there so many papers?"
Eman looked up from his laptop.
Eman:
"Because nobody can agree on anything."
Ci-N nodded.
Ci-N:
"Especially them."
He pointed toward the living room.
That was where the chaos was happening.
Again.
---
(Calix's POV)
I slammed a brochure onto the table.
Calix:
"This one!"
Felix immediately disagreed.
Felix:
"Absolutely not."
Calix:
"Why not?"
Felix:
"It looks like a haunted mansion."
Calix:
"It's elegant!"
Felix:
"It's haunted."
Calix:
"It's romantic."
Felix:
"It's haunted romantically."
Blaster nearly fell off the couch laughing.
---
(Jay Jay's POV)
Meanwhile, Denzel and Drew had somehow started arguing over wedding colors.
Denzel:
"Gold and white."
Drew:
"Emerald and silver."
Denzel:
"Gold and white."
Drew:
"Emerald and silver."
Denzel:
"Gold and—"
David grabbed both of them by their shoulders.
David:
"Neither of you are getting married."
The room went silent.
David:
"So stop acting like it."
Everyone burst into laughter.
---
Across the room, Mayo and Kit were helping organize invitation designs.
Kit:
"Actually, this one looks nice."
Mayo leaned closer.
Mayo:
"Yeah. Very classy."
Kit smiled.
Kit:
"And surprisingly not ugly."
Mayo gasped dramatically.
Mayo:
"Such high praise."
Kit:
"You're welcome."
---
(Keifer's POV)
While everyone argued, I sat beside Jay.
She looked exhausted.
Her head rested against my shoulder while she stared at the mountain of wedding plans.
Keifer:
"Regretting saying yes yet?"
She immediately smacked my arm.
Jay:
"Not even a little."
Keifer:
"Good answer."
Jay smiled.
A real smile.
The kind that always made my heart stop for a second.
Keifer (thinking):
"...She's going to be the most beautiful bride."
Before I could say anything else—
Rory appeared.
With a camera.
Which was never a good sign.
Rory:
"Hold still."
Flash.
Jay jumped.
Jay:
"Rory!"
Rory:
"Candid engagement photo."
Edrix appeared beside him.
Edrix:
"We've taken seventy-two already."
Jay:
"SEVENTY-TWO?!"
Edrix:
"Seventy-three now."
Flash.
---
(Jay Jay's POV)
By evening, we had finally narrowed down some decisions.
Venue?
Almost chosen.
Flowers?
Almost chosen.
Theme?
Still being debated.
Sanity?
Gone.
Completely gone.
I dropped onto the couch beside Keifer.
Jay:
"I'm tired."
Keifer immediately wrapped an arm around me.
Keifer:
"I know."
Jay:
"Can we run away?"
Keifer:
"Tempting."
Jay laughed.
Across the room, Section E suddenly became suspiciously quiet.
Very suspiciously quiet.
Never a good sign.
Calix stood up first.
Calix:
"So..."
Jay:
"No."
Calix:
"I haven't said anything."
Jay:
"I know that tone."
Felix grinned.
Felix:
"We were just wondering."
Blaster:
"Purely for research purposes."
Jay:
"Absolutely not."
Eren:
"She already knows."
Josh:
"She definitely knows."
Denzel:
"One hundred percent."
Jay covered her face.
Keifer looked far too amused.
David sighed.
David:
"Leave them alone."
Everyone nodded.
Then immediately ignored him.
Mayo:
"Honestly, I give it two years."
Kit:
"That's generous."
Jay:
"WHY IS THIS CONVERSATION HAPPENING AGAIN?"
The entire room erupted into laughter.
Even Keifer couldn't stop laughing this time.
Jay glared at him.
Jay:
"You are supposed to be helping me."
Keifer pulled her closer.
Keifer:
"I am helping."
Jay:
"How?"
Keifer smirked.
Keifer:
"By suffering with you."
Jay:
"You're enjoying this."
Keifer:
"A little."
Jay groaned while everyone laughed even harder.
And despite the endless teasing, the arguments, the chaos, and the complete lack of peace...
I wouldn't have traded this moment for anything.
Because these people were family.
And somehow, in the middle of all this madness, our wedding was slowly coming together.
Not perfectly.
Not smoothly.
But together.
And for now...
That was enough.
✦ Chapter Moral ✦
Big milestones rarely happen without a little chaos. The people who make life loud, messy, and unpredictable are often the same people who make it meaningful. Sometimes, the best memories are made while everything is still being planned.
