Chapter 103 - The Last Prophet Of Earth

Part Three

He closed his eyes again.

Pain sharpened.

Ambition roared.

Not domination.

Not conquest.

But the simple, human cry:

Do not let me be meaningless.

He saw Earth again.

The global light-screen.

The humiliation.

The despair.

He had survived that by detaching.

But detachment had left emptiness.

Integration had filled the emptiness.

But it had not given direction.

He had mistaken balance for purpose.

The realization was brutal.

"I do not want to rule," he whispered.

"I do not want to kneel."

Energy surged again.

"Then what do you want?" Lian demanded.

He breathed.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

The answer did not come from Heaven.

Or sect.

Or fear.

It came from memory.

He remembered his children's faces.

Not accusing.

Just watching.

He remembered wishing he could show them something worthy.

Not power.

Not prestige.

But courage.

His breathing steadied.

"I want to stand," he said quietly.

Energy paused.

Not to dominate.

Not to submit.

"To stand where others hesitate."

The destabilization slowed.

Ambition shifted.

No longer hunger.

Direction.

Responsibility.

He did not want to be claimed.

But he would not remain undefined.

He would stand between interpretation and truth.

Not as chosen.

Not as ruler.

But as witness.

The energy inside him aligned.

Not violently.

Not explosively.

It settled.

His dantian stabilized.

Not deeper.

Clearer.

Lian watched carefully.

"You chose," she said.

"Yes."

"What are you now?"

He opened his eyes.

"I am responsible."

The word carried weight.

He was no longer undecided.

He was not owned.

But he had direction.

And direction reshaped integration into something stable.
