Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: The Legacy Within

Three days passed peacefully.

Kieran's routine remained unchanged.

Morning lectures.

Afternoon study.

Evening cultivation upon the secluded cliff.

Unlike many disciples who constantly sought breakthroughs...

He never forced his cultivation.

Each session ended naturally.

Each advancement felt effortless.

---

Unknown to Kieran...

His progress had begun attracting attention.

Not because it was fast.

The Academy was filled with geniuses who cultivated quickly.

Rather...

His cultivation was...

Too stable.

One instructor frowned after watching him cultivate from afar.

"There isn't the slightest fluctuation."

Another nodded.

"It's as though every breakthrough has already been tempered."

Neither understood why.

---

That evening...

The moon hung high above the Sacred Peaks.

Kieran once again sat beneath the lone pine tree.

His breathing gradually slowed.

The Magna surrounding him flowed peacefully into his body.

One circulation.

Then another.

Each was smoother than the last.

As the fiftieth circulation completed...

The golden symbol within his spiritual sea suddenly shone.

A soft pulse echoed throughout his consciousness.

Unlike before...

The light didn't spread through his body.

Instead...

It spread through his mind.

---

His vision blurred.

The cliff disappeared.

The night sky vanished.

Kieran found himself standing within a boundless expanse of stars.

There was no ground beneath his feet.

Yet he remained standing.

The silence was absolute.

---

Before him floated the solitary golden symbol.

It slowly expanded.

Ancient runes emerged from its surface.

One after another.

Each carried an indescribable sense of antiquity.

None resembled any language Kieran had ever seen.

Yet...

He understood them.

Not with his eyes.

With his heart.

---

The runes gathered together.

Gradually forming several words.

The Legacy of Endless Paths

The words faded.

Replaced by another sentence.

Those who seek only power...

...shall never inherit me.

---

Kieran remained silent.

The runes continued.

Observe.

Understand.

Walk.

Return.

Only four words.

Yet each seemed to contain endless meaning.

---

The golden light condensed once more.

This time...

A figure slowly appeared.

It wasn't clear.

Nor detailed.

Merely a silhouette.

It possessed neither age nor gender.

Its voice sounded calm.

Almost...

Familiar.

"You have taken your first step."

Kieran instinctively bowed.

"Senior."

The figure regarded him quietly.

"You need not know my name."

"You need only continue walking."

---

Kieran looked around.

"What is this place?"

"The inheritance left within your seal."

The figure answered.

"It cannot grant you power."

"It cannot cultivate for you."

"It can only..."

"...show you what others have forgotten."

---

The silhouette raised a hand.

Countless stars lit up around them.

Each transformed into a different Path.

A sword.

A spear.

A flame.

A river.

A mountain.

A brush.

A formation.

A beast.

Thousands...

Then millions...

Of different Paths illuminated the endless darkness.

"There is no supreme Path."

The figure said quietly.

"There are only those walked to their end."

---

The stars slowly disappeared.

Only one remained.

A tiny point of light.

The figure looked toward it.

"Walk your own."

"Do not imitate another."

"Do not reject another."

"Understand."

"And continue."

---

The vision gradually dissolved.

Before disappearing completely...

The figure spoke one final sentence.

"The first inheritance has awakened."

"When your heart reaches the next threshold..."

"...return."

---

Kieran slowly opened his eyes.

The moon still hung overhead.

Only a few breaths had passed.

Yet...

Something within him had changed.

Not his cultivation.

Not his strength.

His perspective.

He gently smiled.

"So..."

"The seal wasn't merely a seal."

---

The next morning...

Elder Rowan found Kieran reading beneath an ancient tree.

"You seem different."

Kieran looked up.

"I had a strange dream."

Rowan chuckled.

"Sometimes..."

"The most important lessons arrive while we're asleep."

Kieran thought about the vision.

"It didn't feel like a dream."

The Elder smiled knowingly.

"Then perhaps..."

"It wasn't."

He asked no further questions.

Some experiences...

Were too personal to explain.

---

Far above the Academy...

The Headmaster stood beside the highest pavilion.

He gazed toward the endless horizon.

A mountain eagle soared effortlessly through the clouds.

The old man smiled.

"The child has finally begun finding his own Path."

He didn't know why he felt so certain.

He simply did.

And far away...

Within the Hidden Valley...

Crystal quietly closed the book in her hands.

Her eyes reflected the distant sky.

"The Legacy has accepted him."

Kael nodded.

"Good."

Crystal smiled gently.

"Now..."

"The real journey can finally begin."

For the first time since leaving the Hidden Valley...

Kieran had taken a step that even Crystal and Kael could no longer walk for him.

From this point onward...

Every Path...

Every choice...

Every answer...

Would be his own.
