Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The Test

The sun hadn't even fully risen when Jacob Stewart was already awake. He'd slept in the same alley as always, but this morning, something was different. His heart was pounding, not from fear of the street, but from the anticipation of what was to come.

He clutched Chad Stahelski's business card tightly in his dirty hands. The studio's address was engraved there, like a golden ticket to a new lease on life. He couldn't waste it.

The first thing he needed to do was prepare himself a little. He walked a few streets until he found a public restroom in a subway station. He washed his face, wet his disheveled hair, and tried to tame his beard with his fingers. It wasn't much, but at least he looked a little more presentable.

He stared at his reflection in the smudged mirror. His dark brown eyes were filled with something he hadn't felt in a long time: determination.

"You can do this, Jacob," he muttered to himself.

He arrived at the address Chad had given him at exactly 8:50 a.m. The building was imposing, with gray concrete walls and large metal gates. A security guard at the entrance eyed him suspiciously.

"What do you want here?" he asked, crossing his arms.

Jacob took a deep breath and showed his card.

"I have an audition. Chad Stahelski invited me."

The security guard raised an eyebrow, picked up a radio, and murmured something. After a few seconds, he nodded.

"Come in. Third door on the right, audition room."

Jacob walked through the gate, feeling the weight of the moment on his shoulders. When he opened the audition room door, he was immediately greeted by suspicious looks.

The room was large, with a makeshift stage in front and several chairs occupied by men and women who seemed to know exactly what they were doing there. Candidates for the role, no doubt. All well-dressed, with stylish haircuts and confidence exuding from their faces.

As soon as Jacob walked in, he felt the tension in the air. Some whispered among themselves, others just looked him up and down with disdain.

"Who let this guy in?" muttered one of the candidates, a blond man in an impeccable suit.

"Must be some extra," another commented, laughing.

Jacob ignored the comments, keeping his head high. He knew his appearance didn't help, but he was there for a reason. And that reason was bigger than the opinions of those guys.

Across the room, Chad Stahelski sat next to a group of people, probably producers and casting directors. As soon as he saw Jacob, he waved at him.

"You came. Right on time. That's good," Chad said, standing up and walking over to him.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Jacob replied firmly.

Chad smiled.

"Let's see what you can do, then."

He picked up a script and handed it to Jacob.

"You have ten minutes to read this scene. Then I want you to act it out for us."

Jacob took the paper with trembling hands.

JOHN WICK – SCENE 12

The scene was intense. John Wick was facing a group of assassins in his own home, moving with lethal precision, but the true essence of the scene lay in the dialogue. There was a part where John talked about what he had lost, about how he had been dragged back into a world he was trying to escape.

Jacob felt a shiver run down his spine.

He knew exactly what it was like to lose everything.

He sat in a corner of the room and began to read intently. Time seemed to slow down as he absorbed each word. But to his surprise, the memorization was almost automatic. It was as if the text was already inside him. He felt every emotion in the words, every emotional wound John Wick carried.

The ten minutes flew by.

"Stewart, it's your turn," Chad called.

Jacob stood and walked to the center of the room.

All eyes were on him, and the disdainful energy was still there, but he didn't care. This was the moment.

Jacob took a deep breath, closed his eyes for a second, and when he opened them again, he was no longer Jacob Stewart.

He was John Wick.

He began the scene with a blank, somber look. His movements were controlled, as if he were holding back a deep pain within himself. When he began to speak, his voice carried real weight.

"I tried to leave. You know I tried…"

The other candidates, who had previously laughed at him, were now completely silent.

"But they took this from me… they stole something I can never get back…"

Jacob stepped forward, his gaze intense, as if staring into his own past.

"So tell me… What should I have done? Just accepted it? Closed my eyes and moved on?"

He let out a dry, bitter laugh before looking Chad and the other evaluators directly in the eye.

"No... they were wrong to let me live. Because now... I'm back."

When Jacob finished, the silence in the room was deafening.

Everyone's mouths dropped open.

Chad Stahelski exchanged glances with the other directors and producers were visibly impressed.

The blond who had previously mocked Jacob now swallowed hard, looking away.

One of the producers finally broke the silence.

"Damn... This guy is John Wick."

Chad smiled, crossing his arms.

"Jacob... where did you learn to act like that?"

Jacob blinked, as if coming back to reality.

"I... I don't know. I just felt it."

Chad glanced at the other evaluators and then back at him.

"I think we just found something special."

Jacob felt his heart race.

He had proven himself.

Now, his life could change forever.
