Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Vault 0 – The Forbidden Experiment

The signal did not come from the Commonwealth.

It came from beneath it.

Deep. Ancient. Layered in encryption older than even the earliest terminals of Vault-Tec.

Harry stood in the command chamber of the Arcane Commonwealth aboard the Prydwen as his Pip-Point pulsed red.

UNKNOWN VAULT DESIGNATION DETECTED

VAULT 0 — STATUS: SEALED

ACCESS: RESTRICTED — OMEGA LEVEL

Harry frowned.

He had every vault code.

Every override.

Every blueprint.

Vault 0 should not exist.

And yet…

It was calling to him.

The Hidden Truth

With a crack of Apparition, Harry descended beneath the earth—far deeper than the The Institute had ever dug.

Miles below the bedrock.

He found it.

A massive circular vault door made not just of steel—

But lined with ancient runes.

Wizard runes.

And stamped beneath them:

Property of Vault-Tec Experimental Division

Project: MORSMORDRE

Harry's expression darkened.

That word.

He hadn't heard it since the Second Wizarding War.

Slowly, the door creaked open at his approach.

It did not require a code.

It recognized him.

The Experiment

Inside Vault 0, the air was cold.

Not from cryo.

From magic.

Rows of shattered containment chambers lined the corridor. Fusion generators powered strange crystalline pillars etched with spellwork.

In the central chamber stood a massive suspended sphere of blackened glass.

Cracked.

Broken.

Empty.

A recording flickered to life as Harry approached.

A pre-war scientist appeared beside a robed wizard.

"We theorized," the scientist said nervously, "that combining arcane energy with nuclear radiation could create a controllable super-being."

The wizard beside him smiled thinly.

"You cannot destroy magic," he said. "You can only reshape it."

The screen glitched.

And the final words echoed through the chamber:

"Subject designation: Dark Lord Variant — Resurrection Protocol Initiated."

Harry's hand tightened around his wand.

"No…"

The Wasteland's New Terror

Above ground, alarms screamed across the Commonwealth.

Brotherhood patrols reported entire raider camps erased overnight.

Institute satellites captured a towering figure walking through glowing radiation storms unharmed.

A symbol burned into buildings left behind—

The Dark Mark.

But twisted.

Glowing neon green from radiation.

Harry stepped out of Vault 0 just as the sky darkened unnaturally.

A figure stood atop a ruined skyscraper miles away.

Tall.

Thin.

Robes flowing like smoke.

Eyes burning with sickly green light.

Not exactly the same.

Not fully human.

But unmistakable.

A radiation-mutated echo of the wizard who once tried to conquer the magical world.

A nuclear rebirth of something like Lord Voldemort.

The creature's voice carried across the wind:

"You survived the bombs… Harry."

Harry's face hardened.

"So did you."

Lightning cracked across the sky as radiation storms spiraled inward toward the dark figure.

The ground trembled.

This was not a faction war.

Not steel versus science.

This was magic—corrupted by atomic fire.

And for the first time since waking from Vault 111—

Harry felt something he hadn't in centuries.

Not fear.

But destiny.

The final war of the old world had returned.

Only now—

It would be fought in the ruins of the new one.
