Chapter 200 - Chapter 233: The Clockwork Decapitation and the Shadow of the Acolyte

The seventy-second hour arrived not with a whimper, but with the synchronized roar of Serenno's own arrogance turning against itself.

From the bridge of the Sovereign's Grace, Admiral Kaine watched the planetary scanners with a cold, professional detachment. "General, the timers have reached zero. Initiating the Decapitation Doctrine."

On the surface, the "Ghost in the Gears" protocol activated. The hidden extra-thermal charges Revan had planted during the first half of the week detonated in a sequence that felt less like an explosion and more like a surgical removal. The primary Planetary Ion Cannons—the backbone of the Serenno Ion Line—didn't just explode; their cooling systems experienced a recursive thermal runaway that melted the barrels into slag. Simultaneously, the logic bomb Revan had inserted into the central power trunk of the primary droid manufacturing factories triggered a massive feedback loop.

Across the northern hemisphere, the Separatist grid flickered, groaned, and died.

"Admiral," Revan's voice crackled over the kyber-quantum link, sounding suspiciously like he was chewing on something. "The jar is cracked. Tell the boys it's time to stop being polite and start being 'kind'."

"All units, engage," Kaine commanded. "Release the Roughnecks."

The Descent: Fire in the Sky

The sky over Serenno turned into a tapestry of atmospheric fire as hundreds of LAAT/I gunships, escorted by 480 Z-95 Headhunters and 240 Y-Wing Bombers, screamed toward the surface. The 596th didn't follow the traditional Republic landing patterns. They utilized a high-altitude, low-opening (HALO) orbital drop, using the Sovereign's Grace as a shield against the remaining long-range flak.

Revan Shan stood at the open side-hatch of the Black Pearl, his black cloak whipping in the thin, freezing air of the upper atmosphere. His hood was up, masking the 23-year-old face that had lived through four years of this war and a century of preparation.

"Cortana, highlight the civilian sectors," Revan shouted over the wind. "I want a hard-line perimeter. Nothing hits the residential districts. If a stray bolt so much as singes a flowerbed, I want the offending droid's logic core on my desk by morning."

"Targeting data synced to the starfighters, Master," Cortana replied. "I've also coordinated the Y-Wings to focus on the secondary anti-air emplacements. The path to the capital is seventy-two percent clear."

Revan didn't wait for the ship to land. He stepped off the ramp at five hundred meters, utilizing Force Enhance to steady his descent. He looked like a falling star of matte-black and crimson.

The Siege of the Capital: Frontal Mastery

Revan hit the ground in the center of the primary military plaza, the impact cratering the duracrete. Before the surrounding B2 super battle droids could rotate their wrist-blasters, Revan slammed his palms into the earth.

Force Repulse.

A massive shockwave of kinetic energy erupted, sending a battalion's worth of droids flying like scrap metal against the surrounding walls. Revan stood up, dusting off his pauldrons, his twin Westar 35s already in his hands.

"Try to be nice, do good!" Revan quipped, his voice amplified by his mask's vocoder as he fired with ambidextrous precision. Every Kyber-upgraded bolt found the neck-joint of a droid, shorting them out instantly. "But never fail to be kind—and the kindest thing for a droid is a quick trip to the recycler!"

He moved like liquid through the plaza, a masterclass in Form VI Niman. When a Separatist artillery droid leveled its cannon, Revan didn't dodge. He reached out with Force Grip, crushing the barrel mid-shot. The backfire vaporized the droid's head.

"Commander Check, Ruff! Sweep the eastern flank!" Revan barked. "Use the thermal-gravity snares on the tanks! I want those AATs pinned!"

The 596th moved with a terrifying, dechipped fluidity. They didn't march; they hunted. They used the Iziz-style urban tactics Revan had drilled into them, clearing buildings with flash-stun grenades and utilizing the upgraded power systems in their armor to shrug off glancing shots.

Revan was everywhere at once. He used Force Barrier to shield a group of cornered clones from a grenade blast, then caught the shrapnel with Tutimimus, absorbing the energy and redirecting it as a Force Push that leveled a barricade.

The Midnight Duel: The Fallen Knight

As the suns of Serenno set and the first half of the landing concluded, the 596th established a hard-point perimeter. Revan retreated to a darkened, abandoned research annex near the palace to lay low and recalibrate his gauntlets.

The silence was broken by the low, predatory hum of a lightsaber.

"Dooku said there was a ghost in the gears," a voice rasped from the shadows.

A figure stepped out. He was tall, clad in ragged Jedi tunics dyed a deep, sickly gray. His eyes were the sulfurous yellow of a man who had traded his soul for a seat at a table of ashes. This wasn't Severance Tann; she was elsewhere. This was a fallen Jedi Knight—Valerius Thorne—seduced by Dooku's promises of "true order."

"Oh, look at you," Revan sighed, not even standing up from the crate he was sitting on. "The 'I'm too edgy for the Temple' look. It's very 19 BBY. A bit early for the trend, don't you think?"

Valerius roared, lunging forward with an aggressive Form VII Juyo strike. Revan rolled to the side, his Balanced Purple blade igniting with a sharp snap-hiss.

"You talk too much, Maverick!" Valerius snarled, his crimson blade clashing against Revan's purple with the weight of a falling mountain.

"And you smell like you haven't meditated in a week. Hygiene is part of the Code, you know," Revan retorted.

The engagement lasted ten minutes of pure, unadulterated ferocity. Valerius fought with the desperation of a man who needed to prove his worth to his new master. Every blow was meant to butcher, every Force-shove meant to shatter bone.

Revan, however, was a veteran of a thousand such dances. He shifted into Form III Soresu, his blade a blur of violet light that caught every strike. He didn't use the Force to hurt; he used it to frustrate. He used Force Illusion to make himself appear two inches to the left, causing Valerius to overextend.

"Ten minutes, Valerius," Revan said, his voice dropping the sass for a moment of cold, ancient clarity. "That's longer than most of the Count's 'disciples' last. But you're fighting a feeling, not a man."

Valerius swung a wide, overhead cleave. Revan dropped his center of gravity, performed a perfectly timed front flip over the acolyte's head, and mid-air, delivered a precise, Force-augmented knock to the back of Valerius's skull with the hilt of his Magma Red saber.

The acolyte hit the floor, unconscious before he even registered the movement.

"Cortana, call the med-droids. Tell them we have a 'lost soul' who needs a long nap in a high-security cell," Revan said, clipping his sabers back to his belt. "And make sure he gets a lemon candy when he wakes up. He seems cranky."

The Data Stream: Friday's Progress

While the battle for Serenno's heart continued, parsecs away on Lehon, Friday AI was operating at maximum processing capacity.

"Sir," Friday's voice whispered into Revan's gauntlet as he walked back toward the command post. "The Shadow Collective data from Nal Hutta is 85% decrypted. Maul is indeed building a financial network that rivals the Banking Clan. I have located three hidden staging areas in the Outer Rim where they are stockpiling mercenary ships."

"Good," Revan mused. "Keep sorting. I want to know who Maul is talking to in the Senate. If he's building a kingdom, I want to be the one who audits his taxes."

Status: Month 9, 20 BBY (Week 2 Conclusion)

As the second week of the Serenno campaign drew to a close, the 596th had secured the primary industrial district. The decapitation of the Ion Line had allowed for the deployment of the 400 AT-TE walkers, which were now providing a steel wall around the captured factories.

The space battle remained a stalemate, with Admiral Kaine and the vice admirals utilizing the 2x Dreadnought shielding to absorb the Separatist fleet's frustration while waiting for the ground forces to disable the remaining planetary batteries.

Revan Shan sat on the edge of a captured AAT tank, a cup of 'vintage' spice-latte in his hand, his hood still masking his face. He looked at the smoking ruins of the droid foundries.

"Try to be nice, do good," he whispered to the night air. "But never fail to be kind. And it was very kind of me not to let that Acolyte bleed out in the dark."

He took a sip of his latte. The adventure was only getting more complicated.
