Chapter 5 - Another Space

After getting her milk tea, barbecue, and cake, Luo Suisui went to get fried chicken.

Just as she put the food in the trunk, she suddenly craved shrimp and ice cream, so she went back in and bought those too.

When she came out, she saw someone she hadn't seen in a long time:

Mu Lan, her mother's niece. Mu Lan and

Luo Suisui didn't get along; Mu Lan always seemed to get the short end of the stick, yet Mu Lan loved to pick fights. Luo Suisui didn't like her much. She knew a little about it; her mother's relationship with the Mu family wasn't good, and they favored sons over daughters. They had once tried to marry her mother off to a widowed CEO, but then they met her father.

Mu Lan looked at the food in her hands and mocked, "Luo Suisui, is

this all you eat? Is your Luo family about to go bankrupt? Say something nice to me, and I'll treat you to French cuisine." They were the same age, yet Luo Suisui attended a girls' gathering dressed in haute couture. Seeing her eating such cheap food was a rare treat, so of course she had to mock her.

Luo Suisui rolled her eyes. What was wrong with this stuff? "Does she think she's superior just because she's eating French food?"

Then, her almond-shaped eyes flashed a smile that didn't reach her eyes, and she scoffed, "I only know that the Luo family can bankrupt you with a single word."

She glanced down at the several GI bags in Mu Lan's hand. "It seems your Mu family is quite wealthy, giving you so much pocket money. You don't look like you're about to go bankrupt, so why are you complaining to my parents about being poor?"

"In that case, I'll tell Dad to cancel our business dealings."

After marrying Dad, Mom had planned to ignore them and distance herself. However, her grandparents pressured her with filial piety, and Dad, not wanting Mom to bear the brunt of the criticism, gave them a little help.

"Luo Suisui, who do you think you are? What right do you have to interfere? You're just a woman; in the end, Shengyao Group will still be inherited by a man."

At this point, Mu Lan laughed smugly. "Our two families only have one son, my brother. Shengyao Group will definitely go to him."

Hearing this, Luo Suisui just wanted to open her brain to see how much water it contained—was she just daydreaming?

She muttered under her breath, "With Mu Yang's good-for-nothing attitude, wanting Sheng Yao? Dream on."

Remembering she still had things to do, Luo Sui turned and left. However, she couldn't withdraw the cooperation now, otherwise, these last peaceful days would definitely be disturbed by that family of oddballs.

Anyway, after the apocalypse, all of this would become worthless. She wouldn't remind them.

Back home, Luo Sui put one hundred servings each of milk tea, cake, barbecue, and fried chicken on the shelves.

The system automatically priced them at 10 dimensional coins.

Luo Sui didn't care too much about the amount; she sold things not only for dimensional coins but also for points to level up.

After dinner, Luo Sui and her father went to the study to discuss matters with Grandpa Gu and Gu Nanyan.

Luo Wenyao spoke first, "Uncle Gu, Sui Sui had a dream about the apocalypse yesterday, specifically that it would arrive on April 28th. She also dreamt that the volcano in the neighboring country—Sakura Fushi—would erupt tonight."

He paused, then continued, "My thought is, if Sakura Fushi really erupts tonight, does that mean the apocalypse will truly arrive?"

Gu Yuanming, twirling a walnut in his hand, sat in the main seat, deep in thought, dressed in a long robe.

"Let's wait and see."

He knew Luo Wenyao's character; if it were just a dream, he wouldn't be telling him all this so seriously. So, it was highly likely that this would happen.

Thinking of this, he looked kindly at the obedient Luo Sui Sui and asked with a smile, "What else did Sui Sui dream about? Can you tell Grandpa Gu?"

Luo Sui Sui nodded and repeated what she had told Luo Wenyao, but omitted the details about Su Wanwan, her parents, Grandpa Gu, and Gu Nanyan's death.

She tried to present it as just a dream.

Gu Nanyan listened, his narrow, cold eyes narrowing as he turned the ring on his index finger, lost in thought.

Gu Yuanming also fell silent after hearing this; Sui Sui's account was simply too real.

Seeing the space fall silent, Luo Wenyao said softly, "Sui Sui, didn't you create a space from that jade pendant? Demonstrate it for Grandpa Gu."

Luo Sui Sui nodded, glanced around the study, walked to a bookshelf, and put it away in front of the three of them.

Luo Wenyao still found it fantastical when he saw it again.

Grandpa Gu was so shocked he stood up and walked to the bookshelf where it had been.

"It's really gone." His tone was incredulous, and he took a few steps back. "Sui Sui, take it out again, let Grandpa see."

Luo Sui Sui did as he was told, then, after thinking for a moment, took out a family bucket of fried chicken, because the smell was really tempting. Surely they would believe it when something appeared out of thin air?

At this moment, Gu Nanyan spoke, his voice deep and magnetic, "Yingfu Mountain really erupted, it was on the news half a minute ago."

"It seems things are really about to change." Gu Yuanming sighed, "In that case, we need to prepare early."

Luo Wenyao nodded in agreement, "I came here specifically to discuss this with Uncle Gu."

He glanced at the fried chicken in his daughter's hand and said somewhat embarrassedly, "Uncle Gu, the space where Sui Sui's blood was bound to her is a family heirloom that you gave her before."

Gu Yuanming knew what he was worried about, "No matter what's inside, it's for Sui Sui. Besides, it was originally an engagement token, so Sui Sui will be a member of the Gu family then."

He looked at Luo Sui Sui with a smile, "Sui Sui, this jade pendant has already bound itself to you, so you can't go back on your word, you have to be Grandpa's granddaughter-in-law."

He liked Sui Sui's grandmother when he was young, but she got together with Sui Sui's grandfather. They were originally brothers, and he respected Sui Sui's grandmother's choice, so the three of them had a good relationship.

Later, he also met his soulmate, and the two got married. Both families agreed that if their children were a boy and a girl, they would arrange a marriage between them. However, both families only had sons, so the marriage fell to Nan Yan and Sui Sui.

When they were little, Sui Sui had grabbed Nan Yan, who was six years older than her, and said she wanted to marry him. Nan Yan also liked his little sister, so the two families took the matter seriously.

Gu Yuanming looked at his taciturn grandson, who sat there as handsome as a perfect sculpture, and urged, "What are you standing there for? Don't you still have a black jade pendant? Hurry up and try to conjure up another space."

"Okay." Gu Nan Yan, upon hearing this, took out the jade pendant from his collar, pressed the switch on his ring, and a sharp blade shot out.

He cut his finger and dripped the blade onto the jade pendant.
