Chapter 21 - Ch 21- Players, Why Is Mualani a Four-Star?

Constellation 1: When a party member triggers a Pyro-related Elemental Reaction, it restores the Pyro Traveler's Nightsoul points.

Constellation 2: While the Pyro Traveler is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, the active character's attacks ignore XX% of the enemy's DEF.

Caelus wasn't afraid to grant the prestigious DEF Ignore attribute to the protagonist.

After all, according to HoYoverse's usual design habits, even if they gave the Pyro Traveler a DEF Ignore mechanic, it certainly wouldn't be much—maybe around 5%.

Constellation 3: Increases Elemental Skill Level by 3.

Constellation 4: The damage of [Super Nightsoul] triggered by party members is increased by XX%.

The damage increase here is in the same multiplier category as the Elemental DMG Bonus provided by a Goblet of Eonothem artifact.

Caelus specifically wrote "party members" in the description instead of "active character," meaning that off-field damage from Natlan characters can still benefit from this effect.

It appears strong, but in reality, the vast majority of Natlan DPS characters are on-field carries.

In Caelus's memory, only a few Natlan characters possess off-field damage mechanics.

Furthermore, aside from Mavuika, most off-field damage from others mainly serves as Elemental application to facilitate triggering Elemental Reactions.

Constellation 5: Increases Elemental Burst Level by 3.

Constellation 6: After the Pyro Traveler uses their Elemental Burst, the Pyro DMG dealt by all Pyro characters in the party is converted into [Super Nightsoul] damage; additionally, it decreases enemies' Pyro RES by a certain percentage.

In the previous Constellation designs, the Pyro Traveler's support targeted Natlan characters capable of dealing Nightsoul-aligned damage.

With the final Constellation, Caelus expanded the Pyro Traveler's support range, allowing all Pyro characters in Genshin Impact to benefit.

(Diluc: "I'm eating good, guys.")

Caelus had considered allowing the Pyro Traveler's C6 to let all characters deal [Super Nightsoul] damage, but the system indicated that such a mechanic would be excessively overpowered, so it had to be restricted to the Pyro element.

Even so, the Pyro Traveler's support capability was already extremely strong.

One must remember that Pyro, Cryo, and Hydro characters often include powerful units capable of explosive damage.

As long as a character can support Pyro-related teams, the Pyro Traveler's value will not be low.

"Submit."

After submitting the Pyro Traveler's kit design to HoYoverse, Caelus began waiting for player feedback.

When Genshin players see their own protagonist suddenly becoming a core team member like in the neighboring Honkai: Star Rail, they'll surely be shocked.

A few minutes remained before the Genshin Impact Version 5.0 Special Program livestream.

The well-known Genshin content creator Fan Shu opened a spoiler-free website and also started his own livestream.

"It's starting, it's starting!"

"The Genshin 5.0 Special Program is about to begin!"

"You can skip the program, but you can't skip the Primogems!"

"I'll watch the Special Program for everyone. As soon as the redemption codes drop, I'll share them immediately!"

This was a standard approach for many Genshin content creators: watching the official livestream together with their viewers while discussing thoughts on the upcoming version.

However, each creator's fanbase has its own personality, and the tone of chat messages varies.

Fan Shu's audience mainly followed him for his sharp game critiques, so the chat comments were often rather biting.

[Fan Shu, the 5.0 Special Program is about to air. Why haven't you uploaded a video yet?]

"I'm working on it, working on it! I guarantee it'll be out the day after the characters go live."

Fan Shu's character analysis videos for the next version were actually already completed.

Through information from leakers, he had known the upcoming characters' kit mechanics for quite some time.

Mualani overlapped heavily with the Hydro Archon; both were Hydro Catalyst users, and her damage output was extremely high.

However, Mualani required off-field Pyro application, and according to leaks, her gameplay feel was not very smooth. Therefore, his recommendation was… skip.

The other character was Kinich, a Dendro Claymore user, but his combat style had little to do with Claymore attacks; it relied almost entirely on projectiles fired from his Elemental Skill. His damage was quite high, but he also required off-field Pyro application. Barely worth pulling.

In the past, Fan Shu would not have recommended pulling these two characters. After all, there were only three reliable sources of off-field Pyro application: Xiangling, who required 80 Energy; Dehya, whose Pyro application was limited to a fixed field; and Yoimiya, who often missed.

Relying on these three for consistent Pyro application?

You could mash your keyboard until it burned and still fail.

In Genshin Impact, off-field Pyro application had always been extremely limited. Even a character like Dehya was often used as a compromise option.

But ever since Chuychu was released, off-field Pyro application became much easier.

With Elemental Skill-triggered team-wide healing and consistent Pyro application, even though her raw multipliers weren't high, she became a strong meta unit.

In a certain mini-program's Spiral Abyss usage statistics, Chuychu's usage rate reached SS-tier, second only to Furina; the two were almost inseparable in team compositions.

Of course, this didn't mean Chuychu only excelled in Furina teams. Thanks to her strong Pyro application, she also found a place in Burgeon teams.

Because she applied Pyro whenever the active character lost HP—and Burgeon self-damage reduces HP—Chuychu could continuously apply Pyro to detonate Dendro Cores without even taking the field.

At that point, teammates only needed to consistently generate Dendro Cores.

The four-star Sumeru character Kaveh became an ideal choice. After using his Elemental Burst, he could apply Dendro for an extended duration and had a Talent that healed him when struck by Dendro Core explosions.

Combined with Chuychu's healing, this ensured Kaveh could remain on-field without being defeated.

Now, the combination of Kaveh, Chuychu, and an off-field Hydro character had become another F2P-friendly team following the Nahida–Xingqiu–Kuki Shinobu composition. Many players used this team to achieve full stars in the Spiral Abyss without owning many five-star characters.

However, Fan Shu did not have a good impression of Chuychu.

He usually disliked pulling on Event Wish banners just for four-star characters, but he had gambled for Chuychu's Pyro application and ended up pulling the Perfumer instead.

Too painful to mention.

[Could it be that Fan Shu hasn't made the video at all?]

Another bullet comment scrolled past.

Perhaps reminded of the painful experience of wasting his guaranteed pity on a four-star, Fan Shu began venting.

"I want to upload it!"

"But HoYoverse has been cracking down hard on leaks lately. If I upload a video dozens of days in advance, it gets taken down within half an hour, and my account might even get banned. Who would dare?"

"Now I only dare to post a video discussing character kit impressions after the Special Program, and then a build and pull recommendation guide after the characters go live. I don't dare post anything earlier."

After the Special Program ended, Fan Shu planned to release kit explanation videos for Mualani and Kinich. While discussing their mechanics, he would subtly express his lack of optimism toward these two characters.

Only after the characters officially went live would he openly release a video advising players not to pull.

"Alright, after introducing the Traveler's activities in Natlan, let's introduce the characters arriving in the next version."

"First is the four-star character Kachina from the Children of Echoes, and Mualani from the People of the Springs…"

Seeing the content of the Special Program, Fan Shu said:

"Kachina's strength isn't very high. Those who like her don't need to pull aggressively; she will be obtainable for free in the next version."

"As for Mualani, my suggestion is… wait."

"Why is Mualani a four-star?!"
