"Where are you going?" Meshach asked Dahlia when she began corking her gun amidst Maverick's departure.
"To my place of death," Dahlia replied, clearly not interested in whatever past grudges Meshach held against her or anyone.
"I save your life, and then you decide you want to take it yourself. How grateful."
Dahlia almost laughed.
Lucrezia's life was at stake right now, and just because he held some sort of thing against Maverick, he was hesitant to follow them into enemy territory.
"I'm sure Santiano would be proud to see his underboss wasting away in grudges while his only daughter's life is in danger in the hands of another enemy," Dahlia commented, only that she wasn't being sarcastic this time, which was a bit unlike her.
Meshach was still holding on to the fact that Lucrezia had fallen for a man who had killed her father.
Even though he still cared for Lucrezia and wanted to join in the hunt for Malviero, he simply couldn't stand the thought of siding with Maverick.
