Chapter 11 - Victoria Lang

Considering that Jeff had easily subdued the professional thugs sent by Michael Harper, the family began to worry about that angle.

Michael said, "Everyone, that beast Jeff knows some martial arts and is quite skilled. I suspect he might try to find a wealthy person in Riverforge to work as their private bodyguard. Can any of you block this path for him?"

The room fell silent. There were too many wealthy people in Riverforge, and no one dared claim they knew every one of them or had influence over all.

Just then, a woman who had been sitting quietly for a long time let out two soft, captivating laughs.

All eyes turned. A woman in a sharp red CEO suit sat cross-legged, radiating irresistible allure.

She appeared to be in her early thirties, yet carried the full maturity and charm of a seasoned woman.

Fair skin, sexy red lips, and a short, form-fitting skirt that sparked imaginations.

"Oh, Ms. Lang, when did you arrive? I'm so sorry I didn't greet you sooner!"

Michael hurried over excitedly upon seeing her.

Marcus stared, practically drooling, then patted Michael on the shoulder.

"Mr. Harper, who is this beautiful lady? Please introduce her."

Michael shot Marcus a disdainful look. Marcus really was a nobody in Riverforge; he didn't even recognize her.

"This is the renowned Vice President of Horizon Group, Victoria Lang, Ms. Lang!"

"What? The vice president of Horizon Group?"

Marcus and the others were stunned. Everyone knew the immense influence Horizon Group held in Riverforge.

Reaching vice president at such a young age was no small achievement.

Victoria Lang was so young yet already in that position. People couldn't help wondering if she had used connections.

Jeff suddenly frowned, studied her closely, and thought, She's from my company…

Michael laughed. "There are many wealthy people in Riverforge. The Harpers have plenty of friends, but we only know less than two-thirds of them."

"However, if there's one person who knows all the wealthy figures in Riverforge and has good relationships with every one of them, then in the entire city, only Ms. Lang stands out!"

Hearing this, Marcus quickly joined in the flattery. "Ms. Lang is such a stunning beauty. She's probably the dream of every wealthy man in Riverforge!"

Victoria Lang frowned. "Listen to how you're talking. It sounds like I'm sleeping with every rich man in the city."

"I'm sorry, I misspoke."

Marcus quickly bowed his head, his eyes fixed on Victoria Lang's red high heels. He swallowed hard.

Michael looked at Victoria Lang. "Ms. Lang, please take action and cut off Jeff's path to survival!"

Victoria Lang's presence at Old Madam Harper's birthday banquet proved she had a private connection with the family.

To secure the 70 million dollar financing from Horizon Group, the Harpers had recently offered her substantial benefits.

If Horizon hadn't suddenly changed chairmen, Victoria Lang would have already approved the investment.

But Victoria Lang had her own way of doing things. She wouldn't take orders from Michael.

In Riverforge's upper circles, many knew it was Victoria Lang who manipulated wealthy men, not the other way around.

She didn't respond immediately. Instead, she reached into her pink Chanel bag and pulled out a pack of CAPRI cigarettes, an elegant, slender case.

CAPRI women's cigarettes were slim and delicate, just like Victoria Lang herself, exuding feminine grace and allure.

This brand wasn't yet sold widely in the US, making it extremely rare.

"This cigarette has a refreshing, cool taste. I wonder if Victoria Lang herself tastes the same?"

Jeff couldn't help but have a fleeting thought about her. This woman was truly captivating.

As Victoria Lang sat cross-legged, holding the cigarette in her right hand, the men around her instantly produced lighters, eager to light it for her.

Marcus, Victor Lang, Michael, Robert, all of them.

Seeing the scene, Jeff smiled. How similar this was to a famous moment in the movie "Malèna."

But this Victoria Lang was probably even more seductive and feminine than Monica Bellucci.

Unexpectedly, Victoria Lang ignored all of them.

She looked directly at Jeff and crooked her finger. "Come here."

The men glared and muttered angrily at Jeff, but Victoria Lang spoke to him with gentle charm.

"This woman is no ordinary person. No wonder she became vice president of Horizon."

Jeff thought to himself that he was quite interested in his own vice president, so he walked over.

Victoria Lang looked at him with a charming smile. "You. Light my cigarette."

The men around them, each holding expensive lighters, froze in shock.

"Ms. Lang actually asked that worthless trash to light her cigarette!"

"I just don't understand what that good-for-nothing has that we don't!"

In the eyes of Riverforge's elite men, lighting a woman's cigarette was considered an honor.

Jeff replied directly, "I don't have a lighter. I don't smoke."
