Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: The Dormant Beast

Kael sat on the cold metal floor, his legs crossed. He looked like a giant, dangerous toddler waiting for a story.

Ren stood there, rubbing his neck. "System, how do I guide him if I'm an Enigma?"

[Enigmas don't guide. They dominate. But Kael's mental sea is chaotic. He doesn't need soothing; he needs control. You have to enter his mind and 'beat' the chaos into submission.]

"So, I have to fight him mentally?" Ren cracked his knuckles. "I can do that."

Ren walked up to Kael. The General had to be over 7 feet tall. Even sitting, he was almost eye-level with Ren's chest.

"Close your eyes," Ren commanded.

"You dare order me?" Kael growled, his blue eyes glowing.

"Do you want to go on a rampage and get shot by the Federation?" Ren asked flatly. "Or do you want to sleep? I heard you haven't slept in three months."

Kael stiffened. How did he know that?

"Fine. But if you fail, I eat you."

"Kinky. Close them."

Kael closed his eyes.

Ren placed his hands on Kael's temples. "System, establish link."

[Link established. Warning: Mental pressure HIGH.]

Ren closed his eyes. He felt himself being pulled into a dark ocean. This was Kael's mind.

It was a storm. Lightning, waves, screaming voices.

Wow, he is messed up.

Ren stood on a piece of floating debris in the mental sea. He needed to take control.

Normally, a Guide would send gentle waves of calm.

Ren decided to send a tsunami of dominance.

"Listen to me!" Ren shouted in the mental sea. His voice echoed, amplified by his dormant Enigma genes.

The storm paused.

"I am not here to babysit you!" Ren projected his will. "I am here to rule you! Calm down!"

A giant wave formed, looking like a monster, trying to swallow Ren.

Ren didn't flinch. He imagined himself bigger. He imagined chains. (He liked the chains from the previous world).

Golden chains shot out from Ren's hands, wrapping around the wave-monster.

"Sit!"

CRACK!

The monster shattered into mist. The storm stopped. The water became calm.

In the real world, Kael gasped. His body shuddered. The black veins on his neck receded. The crippling headache that had plagued him for months... vanished.

He opened his eyes and looked at Ren.

Ren looked pale. He was sweating. Using mental power was exhausting.

"You..." Kael murmured. He felt lighter. "What are you?"

"Tired," Ren slumped forward.

Kael caught him before he hit the floor. He picked Ren up effortlessly. This time, not to kill. To hold.

Kael buried his nose in Ren's neck. The scent was there. Enigma.

He didn't know why, but his instincts screamed: Mate.

"You fixed me," Kael whispered, holding the small man against his chest. "Mine."

Ren mumbled in his sleep, "Don't call me mine... call me Master..."

Kael smirked. A crazy, obsessive smirk.

"As you wish... Master."

[Mission Progress: 20%. Warning: You have awakened the 'Possessive Enigma' trait. Good luck.]
