"But isn't that exactly what you're doing right now?"
Lina fell silent.
She stared at Alexander for several seconds, unable to come up with a convincing argument.
He was right.
She had dragged him into the situation because she needed him, and now that Lucien and Julian had left, she had immediately wanted to walk away as though none of it had happened.
After a long silence, Lina finally sighed.
"President Sterling, what exactly do you want me to do?"
Alexander did not answer immediately.
Instead, he looked towards the doors through which Lucien and Julian had disappeared.
"You saw their reactions tonight."
Lina's expression became serious.
"They aren't going to simply accept what happened and move on. If you only pretend to be with me tonight, sooner or later they will discover that you lied."
Lina frowned.
She already knew that.
And that was precisely why she had been so reluctant to involve Alexander any further.
