Alexander lowered his head and carefully examined Lina, as though there were some detail about her that he had not quite figured out. His gaze moved over her face and then down to her hand, missing almost nothing.
Lina felt goosebumps rise along her arms under that intense stare.
"President Sterling, what's wrong?"
Alexander did not answer immediately.
His brows remained slightly furrowed, and there was a faint seriousness in his expression, as though he were trying to solve a particularly difficult problem.
Lina waited.
A few seconds passed.
Then, unexpectedly, Alexander said, "Give me your hand."
A huge question mark seemed to appear above Lina's head.
She didn't understand what was happening at all.
However, the atmosphere in the elevator was strange enough that she did not dare question him too much. After a moment of hesitation, she obediently held out her hand.
Alexander looked at it for several seconds.
Then he reached out and took her hand.
