"Everyone is looking at her," Roscoe quickly said, stepping in before Adrian could continue. "Lina has been exhausted lately, and her voice isn't exactly at its best, so let's not make her sing."
Her words sounded casual enough, but Lina knew immediately what Roscoe was doing.
She was protecting her.
Roscoe had already recognised the intention behind Adrian's suggestion. To anyone else watching, it might have seemed like an innocent request, especially since they had just decided to sing together, but Roscoe knew Lina well enough to understand that Adrian was deliberately choosing the one thing that could put her in an awkward position.
Adrian's smile froze for a moment before he quickly recovered.
He chuckled awkwardly, clearly unwilling to give up so easily. "It does seem like there aren't many people willing to sing. If only a few of us participate, the atmosphere won't really be lively."
