Its feet left the ground. The hammer, still in its grip, swung wide. Kinetic Control caught the hammer's momentum and reversed it. The weapon swung back and hit the zombie lord in its own chest, the iron head crunching through the bone plates.
He opened a portal.
Beneath the flying body. The zombie lord fell through. The exit portal opened above a set of metal security grills outside a gutted storefront across the street. The grills were pointed, rusted, the bars thick as rebar.
The zombie lord fell onto them.
The bars pierced its body. Shoulders. Chest. Belly. Thighs. The creature hung there, impaled on the metal, the red eyes dimming, the jaw opening and closing in slow, reflexive clicks. The hammer fell from its hand and hit the asphalt below.
Dust settled.
The women gasped.
