Chapter 1 - Prologue

"I don't know what to do," a female voice echoed.

"We are disappearing from this world. There isn't much time left," an aged male voice echoed back.

"Our time on this planet is coming to an end. Whatever shall we do?" a young male voice echoed.

"The surviving Asgardians have already left for another plane after their Ragnarok happened," a strong but feminine voice echoed.

"We will have to leave the mortals on their own. Gaia can no longer support our powers," the aged voice echoed back.

"I can already feel my power lessening," a strong male voice echoed.

"Of course, Ares. Your power comes from war and the mortals are entering an era of peace," the aged voice replied.

"Father, Uncle Ares, and the rest of you — do we really want to leave Gaia without leaving anything behind?" a young but robust male voice asked.

"Hercules, my son, you were once part mortal. You could become mortal again and live your life here on Earth," the aged voice echoed.

"Zeus, he was turned into a god after his death. He would die if he turns back into a mortal," the strong feminine voice stated.

"Thank you for reminding me, Athena," Zeus replied.

"I don't want to leave," Apollo murmured, his gaze fixed on the world below.

"Apollo, I know you care greatly for the mortals. However, they must eventually stand on their own," Zeus countered, his voice like low thunder.

"Then let us at least leave behind a way to help them," Apollo urged, stepping toward the throne.

"What is it you want to do?" Zeus asked, leaning forward with narrowed eyes.

"Those of us who still have some excess power shall use it to create a gift," Apollo replied, tracing a glowing pattern in the air. "We will put a bit of our power into that gift for the mortals who are found worthy. They may eventually give us a way to return."

"What form shall this gift take?" Zeus asked.

"We shall each give a mortal a drop of our divine blood. When those drops of blood meet in their descendants, a small portion of our power shall be unlocked, giving those descendants abilities. Maybe one of those descendants will develop enough power to allow us to return to Gaia," Apollo explained.

"What abilities will our blood give them then?" Ares asked.

"We will grant them our gifts: from Athena, wisdom and knowledge; from Hermes, speed; from Hercules, stamina; from you, Zeus, strength; and so on. Our blood shall awaken within them various strengths of our powers when they are found worthy," Apollo stated.

"How shall we determine their worth?" Athena asked.

"When they are on the precipice of death, their souls shall be judged. If a soul is found worthy, our blood shall awaken."

"Our blood can only hold our powers for so long. If, by the time the power is exhausted, no mortal has contacted us, we will never return to Gaia."

"If that happens, then it is what the Fates have decreed."

"Then let us leave an insurance policy. If our blood ever becomes almost drained of its powers, then Glaux and its descendants shall awaken someone they find worthy," Athena stated.

"Are all in agreement with Apollo's plan?" Zeus asked.

"Agreed!" many voices echoed in response.

"I heard those voices echo in my head just as I started to regain consciousness. I awoke to find something on my chest—the beautiful snow-white owl I had just nursed back to health, right before I slipped and hit my head on the table."
