Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Intermediate Transfiguration

"Learning Transfiguration requires extremely hard work, as it is more rigorous and scientific than other subjects.

In Transfiguration, only complete correctness can be considered success."

Professor McGonagall walked down from the podium, tapping Harry's book.

"Now, please turn your textbooks to page five.

I will repeat the content there:

When performing Transfiguration, it is very important to wave your wand firmly and decisively.

Do not wave or twirl your wand unnecessarily, or the Transfiguration will surely fail.

Before casting a Transfiguration spell, clearly visualize in your mind what you want the object to become…"

Professor McGonagall emphasized two key points in a row, and after introducing a counter-spell called Finite Incantatem,

she instructed the Young Wizards to transform the matches on their desks into silver needles.

The Young Wizards eagerly began to try, but few succeeded.

Even if they tried various gestures and recited the spell in different ways, the matches remained unchanged.

This made them scratch their heads and frown deeply.

Hermione, meanwhile, stared intently at Sean.

Sean's eyes flickered.

He was recalling and thinking.

Transfiguration,

is known as the magic that best embodies a Wizard's will.

Its existence perfectly illustrates a truth—

magic,

is inherently a miracle.

And Wizards,

are the gods who control miracles.

With only a clear intention, firm belief, and sufficient mental power,

even a first-year Young Wizard can change an object itself… I know the structure of a match, and I have enough confidence to succeed.

Sean thought.

Perhaps I could understand the structure of the match more deeply, or give myself more confident self-suggestions,

but… I am more curious about something else,

something mentioned in "magical theory."

When a magic is mastered, to truly exert its maximum power, sufficient mental power is also required.

If the emotion for casting Lumos is the desire for light,

then what emotion is needed for casting Transfiguration?

"It's a command,"

Sean said,

"I am a god.

Trans—figura—tion!"

Light burst from the tip of Sean's wand, and the match instantly transformed into a silver needle, its tip gleaming coldly, and a small hole appearing at its base.

This scene immediately drew the attention of the Young Wizards.

"Oh my goodness! He succeeded!"

"How did he do it?!"

"Who is it? Who is it? Sean… huh?!"

Next to Sean,

Hermione's mouth hung open; she was sure she hadn't missed any details,

but why was it that Sean succeeded when she waved her wand and cast the spell in the same way?

"Mr. Green…"

Professor McGonagall walked over quickly, her eyes fixed on the silver needle, a relieved and relaxed smile on her face.

Just as she was about to speak again, her expression changed slightly,

"Stay away from Mr. Green, immediately!"

Her sharp rebuke caused the surrounding Young Wizards to scatter instantly.

Sean didn't notice what was happening around him; his gaze was focused and firm.

"I can do more,"

Sean told himself.

"Trans—figura—tion!"

As he forcefully swished his wand,

the rat in the cage next to Sean actually turned into a snuffbox, although it wasn't completely successful—the rat's tail was still moving,

but it still elicited a collective "Wow—" from the Young Wizards.

"Mr. Green,"

Professor McGonagall's eyelids trembled, her stern voice changing tone,

"Unsettling talent…"

She paused, seeing the slightly exhausted Sean shyly and cautiously glance over.

Her tightly pressed lips softened, and a genuine joy appeared in her eyes.

A reassuring holder.

"Advanced Transfiguration, because of your performance, Mr. Green, I will award ten points to Ravenclaw!"

Professor McGonagall showed a look of pleased satisfaction.

"Fantastic!"

Michael threw his arm up, incidentally pocketing Terry's match from the desk in front of him.

Terry, coming back to his senses, hadn't even started to get angry when he heard Michael say:

"Look at Sean's Transfiguration, Terry, Ravenclaw got ten points!"

Terry looked at Sean, paused for a moment, then smiled shyly.

Michael, meanwhile, chuckled with the match, making Anthony, who was leading the applause, shake his head slightly.

…While class hadn't ended yet, Sean, with some recovered energy, continued to grind proficiency.

As his energy was depleted once again, Sean panted and glanced at his panel:

[Transfiguration: Apprentice Level (113/900)]

[Advance: Entry-level Transfiguration, can unlock the Entry-level title in the Transfiguration field]

Progress was rapid.

I truly have a lilac talent.

Although Sean really wanted to see what the entry-level title was, the immediate priority was to reach a level where he could brew Potions.

This meant he at least had to understand how to process Potion ingredients,

before he could gain proficiency through practice.

"Where's my match?!"

Before class ended, Sean heard Terry, who was usually shy and quiet, let out a small shout,

then Michael ran out of the classroom like the wind.

As he passed Sean, he managed to squeeze in a "You're amazing, Sean."

Sean glanced at the chasing Terry, chuckled softly,

and headed towards the Greenhouse.

In the corridor in front of the Greenhouse,

Sean saw a familiar figure.

"Senior Bruce."

Sean quickly walked over.

"Ah, Sean."

Senior Bruce showed a gentle smile,

"Going to the Greenhouse together?"

"Mm."

Sean responded, and the two walked down the long corridor together.

Sunlight streamed down, and Hogwarts Castle was bathed in warmth.

On the corridor were the slanted shadows of armors and statues, and the portraits were still visiting each other.

Sean looked curiously at a lady who turned her head away, ignoring the approaching knight.

"Do you know why Professor Sprout needs to process things like snake fangs?"

Senior Bruce raised an eyebrow and asked.

"For the new students' Potion brewing?"

Sean stated his guess.

"I can understand why you were sorted into Ravenclaw now…"

Senior Bruce spread his hands helplessly,

"Then you must be able to guess what we're doing today?"

Sean thought for a moment, then said "I don't know."

"Aha!"

Senior Bruce showed a look of "Finally, there's something you don't know,"

"It's the processing of slugs, with and without antennae;

and also porcupine quills, if we're fast, we can finish it today."

Sean nodded, and couldn't help but feel anticipation.

If he could learn all these material processing techniques today, he would complete the first step of his preparation.

Carrying this joy,

Sean pushed open the wooden door of the Greenhouse.
