Cherreads

Chapter 9 - First Harvest

She crouched down and pulled aside the soil near one radish. A small radish had already formed beneath the earth. It wasn't fully grown yet, but it was clearly developing quickly.

Sienna Vale stared at it, then slowly covered it back up.

A grin spread across her face, full of satisfaction and greed.

"At this speed… it'll be mature by tomorrow morning."

She straightened up, rubbing her hands together like a merchant smelling profit.

"Tomorrow I'll ask Grandpa Harold if radishes exist in this world. And I'll check if those blue-eyed rabbits can eat radish leaves."

Her eyes narrowed with excitement.

"If they can… then I can start building a ranch outside even before the space ranch opens."

The thought made her chuckle softly.

After circling through the Spatial Farm one more time and confirming there was nothing else unusual, Sienna Vale finally left. her body returned to the cold stone room, and she lay back down on the bed, staring quietly at the ceiling.

The room was silent. Only the faint glow of the magic lamp filled the corners with soft light.

Sienna Vale's mind, however, was anything but quiet.

From the moment she had woken up in this world until now, everything had happened too fast. She had accepted Sienna's memories, understood her identity, and realized she had become the last heiress of a ruined noble family. On top of that, she had discovered a Spatial Farm system that shouldn't even exist.

If she thought carefully, she should have been terrified.

But strangely, she wasn't.

Instead, deep inside, there was even a kind of excitement that she couldn't deny. On Earth, she had been a person with no future worth speaking of. Her life was dull, her income was barely enough, and her days passed like water flowing through cracks. There was pressure everywhere, and there was nothing she could truly control.

Here, things were different.

Even if she was a fallen noble, she was still a noble. She had a title. She had land. She had a castle. She had loyal people who would risk their lives for her. She even had one hundred slaves whose fate could be decided with a single sentence.

Most importantly, she had the Spatial Farm.

Sienna Vale didn't know how that farm had followed her into This world, and she didn't even dare to think too deeply about it. But as long as it existed, her biggest problem was solved.

Food.

As long as she could produce food, she could survive. If she could survive, then she could build a life. And if she could build a life, then everything else could come later.

However, Sienna Vale's excitement slowly cooled as she thought further. The farm had already mutated once. Who could guarantee it wouldn't mutate again? Who could guarantee it wouldn't disappear one day?

That thought made her heart tighten.

She couldn't rely completely on the Spatial Farm. She needed to use it as a tool, not as a crutch. If the farm was truly a blessing, then she needed to squeeze every drop of value from it while she still had it.

Tomorrow, she had to test the Black Soil Wasteland's earth. She needed to bring some black soil into the space and see if the space soil and spring water could truly improve it. If it could, then her future would be stable. If it couldn't, then she would need a different plan.

And she needed money.

A lot of money.

Seeds cost gold coins, and she couldn't level up forever by planting a single crop. If she wanted to expand, she needed to buy more seeds, plant more land, sell more harvest, and quickly build a cycle that could support itself.

Sienna Vale thought until her eyelids grew heavy.

Without realizing it, she fell asleep.

In her dream, the Black Soil Wasteland was no longer dead. She saw green fields stretching endlessly, a huge manor built around the castle, barns full of animals, and granaries packed with food. She saw herself living comfortably, drinking tea under a shaded tree, while servants ran around busy with work. The world outside could fight over politics and power for all she cared. Her land was peaceful, her life was rich, and her future was secure.

The dream was so vivid that Sienna Vale almost didn't want to wake up.

But then a cold voice suddenly pierced the dream like a bell.

"Radishes have matured. Please harvest them."

Sienna Vale's eyes snapped open.

She didn't even hesitate. Her mind moved, and in the next moment, she was inside the Spatial Farm.

The scene in front of her made her inhale sharply.

The radishes had already broken through the soil. Thick Harold leaves spread across the field, and the ground was cracked in countless places where white radish tops pushed upward, as if they were eager to escape the earth.

Sienna Vale hurried forward, knelt down, and pulled one radish out with both hands.

A huge, fat white radish came free with a soft sound, soil clinging to its skin. Sienna Vale brushed the dirt away with her fingers, then lifted it up and took a bite without thinking.

Crunch.

The taste exploded in her mouth.

Sweet, crisp, with a faint spicy kick that didn't burn but instead felt fresh. The juice flowed out, cool and clean, filling her mouth as if she had bitten into something alive.

Sienna Vale froze for a second, then chewed slowly.

"This…" she muttered with wide eyes. "This is way better than Earth radish."

She looked down at the radish in her hand. It was thick, straight, and heavy. At least three pounds, maybe more. The color was clean and white, the shape perfect. It didn't look like something grown by farming.

It looked like something grown by cheating.

Sienna Vale laughed quietly, her heart beating fast. Then she walked to the hut window and grabbed the basket labeled for harvesting.

She turned toward the field and spoke clearly.

"Harvest."

The moment the command left her mouth, the radishes began to move. One by one, they were pulled out of the soil as if invisible hands were lifting them. They flew through the air and dropped into the basket.

The basket didn't fill up.

Instead, each radish vanished the moment it touched the inside, disappearing like smoke.

Sienna Vale stared at the basket in amazement. She didn't even have time to feel weirded out before the field was emptied. In just a short while, every radish was gone, leaving behind neat holes in the soil.

Sienna Vale immediately checked the warehouse.

As expected, the radishes were all stored inside, neatly counted. The land, however, looked messy now, full of small pits where the roots had been pulled out.

Sienna Vale didn't sell the radishes yet. She wasn't sure whether radishes existed in this world. If she sold them to the store immediately, she would lose the chance to use them as proof when asking Harold. So instead, she bought another bag of radish seeds, ordered the shovel to plow, and commanded the system to plant again.

The tools moved instantly, working like tireless servants.

The soil was turned, seeds were placed, water was poured, and everything was finished without Sienna Vale even needing to lift a finger.

Then, a clear sound rang out.

Ding!

A new voice followed.

"Congratulations. You have leveled up to level 2. Reward: two bags of cabbage seeds. Each bag can plant one acre."

Sienna Vale's mouth twitched.

She couldn't help complaining, "This system is stingy. Two bags, but only one acre each."
