The Bureau of Warriors had gotten the message that the level nine calamity had been contained, but they were shocked when they heard that an unknown warrior was the one who made sure the beast was removed.
Sitting in the main office, Chairman Luke Smith was trying to get an explanation to the video he was watching. There, he could see the beast coming back each time Freya and Hugo would knock it down.
Standing beside him were Jared Swift and Ryan Frost. They were the Vice Chairman and High Marshal, respectively. Both of them were shocked watching the video, it wasnt like anything they would have been able to believe, but for a warrior to oneshot a calamity of that level meant that his power was something else.
"I can't believe this. Watching it multiple times isn't even helping in any way. I just want to know how he could do something like this." Jared was dumbfounded. He had seen powerful warriors, but every one of them would have problems trying to take a monster that strong, but the man he was watching had no problem whatsoever.
"His attack, I haven't seen anything like it either." Ryan pointed to the screen, trying to get them to see what he was trying to say.
"From the very moment he conjures up that blast, reality begins to warp around it. Almost like it wasnt even anything normal, like a common energy blast."
They were looking at the screen. Luke was having thoughts about the man in the image. From what he could see, it was a warrior of unimaginable strength, and he wasnt about to let something like that be swept under the rug.
"You know if this turns out the way we have in mind," Luke spoke slowly, looking at his partners. A smug grin could be seen on his face, there wasnt many times he would have that look.
"Then we might have the very first Arcane level warrior here in Veron," he said, standing up, looking at the screen, trying to get his head to wrap around what they had been watching for the past few minutes.
"Make sure you get me all the info about this warrior, and please make sure that someone can track down his activities for the past few years."
Ryan and Jared looked at each other, slowly nodding as they pulled out a file from their side.
"Sir, we got this file from the control squad, and they told me something that might interest you about the warrior," Jared spoke slowly. He watched as Luke went over to the water dispenser, taking a glass of water.
"Go on," Luke muttered before taking a glass of water, turning to look at Ryan.
"Well, sir, the warrior's name is Sylus Cage," Ryan spoke boldly, looking the chairman in the eye, trying to make sure that nothing would intimidate him or give him the spooks.
"Cage?" Luke raised a brow, surprised to hear the name, and he was sure it felt familiar.
"Yes, sir, and it is as you think. He is Freya Cage's older brother, but when I did more research about him, I found out that he had been working as an E-ranked cleaner for over nine years, trying to make sure he earned enough."
Ryan placed the file on the table, and he took one step back, turning to Jared. Who gave him a nod before he pulled out another file?
"But sir, almost about a week ago, there were reports of a cleaning job gone rogue as the cleaners had wandered into an uncharted dungeon, and they bumped into what appeared to be an S-ranked dungeon. The other warriors swore that Sylus was done for. Only for our crew to enter and find the man lying unconscious on the floor, unscathed."
Jared placed his own file on the table, taking a step back too. He looked up, his eyes fixed on the chairman.
"Now, not less than twenty-four hours after he was discharged, he appears live on camera disintegrating a monster that would take a whole state of SS-rank warriors to defeat."
Luke didnt utter a word. He was looking at the file, and his mind was giving him the same thoughts, and it wasnt even trying to be secretive about it.
"Men," he spoke slowly, looking at the files, quickly turning to his partners. "I think we need to pay our friend here a visit, even if it would mean apprehending him."
Veron Central Hospital.
Sylus was still lying unconscious after using that high amount of power. Freya was standing outside his ward, looking at him from the window, trying to see if she would be able to decipher what had happened.
It was replaying in her head, the moment Sylus appeared on the battlefield. It was the same feeling she used to have as a little girl when he would protect her from anything that would have hurt her.
But the powers of the man who had saved her made it hard for her to believe that it was Sylus and that he was even that strong to be able to bend reality.
'Could it be possible that he awakened his core again after all these years?' she wondered, looking at her sleeping brother. It wasnt clear yet.
'Did he hide this from me?' Her thoughts were running wild, and she wasnt about to let anything keep bugging her like that.
"What seems to be bothering you?"
A voice came from behind her. Freya turned to see Hugo standing behind her.
"Hugo, what are you doing here?" she looked amused, it wasnt like Hugo to be seen off work even after a raid.
Hugo grinned, walking to the ward door. He was looking at Sylus, then he turned to look at Freya.
"I took the rest of the day off." He spoke quickly, and it dropped as a shock to Freya.
"Wait, you took the rest of the day off?" she asked, walking over to Hugo and placing her hand on his necktrying to see if she would get any sign of him being sick.
"What in the world are you doing?" Hugo asked, trying to push Freya away, but she kept trying to check for something.
"There is no way the Hugo I know would take a day off. You must be some kind of imposter, and you are trying to take over his mind!"
Both of them were struggling like children. Hugo took one step back and held Freya back. A heart-warming smile on his face, he turned to look at the sleeping man in the room.
"Come on, tell me why you aren't trying to get into another dungeon?" Freya beamed with joy, looking at Hugo.
His eyes were still on the door of the ward, trying to keep his head clear.
"We almost lost our lives today." The words slowly came out of his mouth, and the smile on Freya's face slowly faded away.
"There was this moment in the fight, that we knew nothing was going to save us, and we were done for. But then he came from nowhere, and he was the reason why we could walk out of that place with our heads still intact, but I know for a fact that if he hadn't shown up. Our fates were sealed, just like the many souls that perished in the hands of that monster."
Freya couldn't deny it either; she thought that there was no chance for them to walk out of that place alive, knowing that the beast was about to kill them. She muttered prayers, praying that Sylus would be safe.
But he came down from the heavens, as the angel that saved them.
"I know, but I dont seem to understand how he might have been able to keep something like this from me for so long."
She was worried about him, knowing what was going to happen when the Bureau got word that there was an unlicensed warrior in the field showing unrivaled power.
Hugo gently placed his hand on Freya's shoulder, trying to comfort her and see to it that nothing would make her feel sad at the moment.
"I believe he will have an explanation, but for now. We should thank our heavens that he showed up when he did; if not, there was no chance for us to even walk out of there alive."
Freya knew it was true, Sylus had saved them and also made sure that there were no more casualties. She couldn't help but smile, knowing that if there was anything he wanted to tell her, then he would have done it a long time ago.
"You're right," she turned to look at Hugo, the grin on her face widened as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"I think I want a bagel," she muttered, her words made Hugo chuckle a bit.
"Come on, sweettooth, I saw a stand outside the hospital." Hugo turned Freya in the direction of the hallway, both of them slowly walking out, bickering like an old couple.
