Chapter 1 - Nirvana: Chapter 1

Be careful what you wish for—you might get it, but not the way you expect."

Julian was sleeping in his dormitory when he was woken up by the vibration of his phone. Half-awake and still light-headed, he checks on it and sees a 'Download Complete' notification. He didn't bother with it, after all, he just finished his exams and he's had a long week, so he simply went back to sleep.

Suddenly, his drowsiness started to disappear. His eyes were blinded by the blinding lights. A few seconds later, he was finally able to see where he was. A seemingly infinite space of white. In the middle of it all is a wishing well that has an unexplainable aura behind it.

"Am I dreaming? That must be."

Curious, simply thinking that it's a dream, he slowly walks to it. Suddenly, a series of information floods his brain. It was a lot, but for some reason, he has no trouble understanding it. The information? It was simple. It was about the world of Nirvana.

A little bit later, he was fully able to understand everything. The place was an independent dimension called Nirvana. It is a mysterious and supernatural place that can fulfill people's wishes. Now, he is called the 'Gatekeeper'. He has gained several abilities as the gatekeeper, including… fulfilling people's wishes.

"This dream is too weird. Still, I can't seem to wake up."

As an experiment, he walks to the well. He raises his hand and conjures a bronze coin. It was a bronze coin with a line on both sides. It was a token for 'Minor-Bronze Wish'. He throws it in the well and it simply disappears.

The same token will then reappear in the real world to be picked up by someone. If they do, they will be eligible for a wish of said level. Julian's job was to fulfill the said wish and by doing so, he could earn his own coin for his own wish.

He also learned that there are 2 classifications of a token: the level and type. Both classifications have 4 tiers. In the Level, there are Fleeting, Minor, Moderate, and Major. Meanwhile, the Type is divided into Random, Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

As a new gatekeeper, it seems that Nirvana is a considerate system.

"I have 5 Fleeting-Random Wish." He says so as he manifests 5 Black tokens with a small black circle in the middle. He presses on the smaller black circle when it starts to glow and he tosses it. As soon as he tossed it, mountains of cash appeared behind him.

Information was transferred into his brain that he received 2 million dollars.

"Shit! What great dream this is! If only I could wish this to be true."

Once again, he tossed another token from his pocket. As soon as it enters the well, it disappears and a card appears on his face.

It was a Purple Card. Based on his 'knowledge,' it was a random skill. He took the floating card as he read the contents. The picture on the front of it was a fist and a title can be read in mysterious letters that he surprisingly knows.

[7-Day Trial: Hand-to-Hand Fighting Skill]

He turns it around as he reads the description.

[This allows the user to harness the hand-to-hand fighting skills of any person chosen. The user will obtain the skills as if they had it for years but the physical prowess of the user will not be altered to be the same as the chosen person. The user cannot pick a fictional character. The user must also know the name of the person being chosen. Tear the card to activate the effect. Once the timer expires, the user will lose the skill given. Any skilled learn while the card is in effect is not included.]

Julian reads this and was flabbergasted.

"Damn! This is great. I can only imagine how great it is to fight like Mighty Mouse or maybe Floyd or Pacquiao, or maybe some soldiers… though it's debatable."

As he looked at it, he was about to put it away when a thought came to his mind. Just like how he naturally knows how to breathe, knowledge was once again in his mind.

He shakes his hand and it the card suddenly disappears. Julian waves his hands once again as the purple card reappears.

Then, as he tries to understand it more, the world of white starts to wane. As if getting dimmer, Julian's had his guesses.

"Am I about to wake up?" He asks himself as he waves his hand in one smooth motion, making the card disappear. His figure then becomes blurry, as he starts to become transparent.

"Oh, maybe it is. What a dream. Maybe I can try this one more time." As his figure disappears, the pitch-black, bottomless well that seemed endless suddenly had a change. One small twinkle of light appears as a powerful silence echoes throughout the infinite space of Nirvana.

Julian wakes up in his dorm. Once again, he knew he was back in reality. Why, you ask? Because he finally sees a large scar on his left arm, which is now present once again, unlike in his dream.

He stood up from his bed as he took a pee, brushed his teeth, drank some water, and opened up his computer. He immediately logs on to his Discord and opens up League of Legends. It didn't take long for someone to enter the Discord call as a female voice can be heard.

"Aria! You gonna duo me again?" Julian asks as he selects a song on his playlist. Aria, who seems to be Julian's friend immediately answers back.

"Nah, our finals' about to come. I can't afford to slack." She said as the sound of vehicles and motorcycles can be heard from her microphone.

"Are you on your way back home?" He asks.

"Yeah. I just finished my classes. Don't tell me you just woke up? It's just 3a.m. there. Do you have a death wish?" She asks in worry.

"Death wish my ass. My dream woke me up. Now I can't go back to sleep so Imma play league."

"I hope you lose." Aria curses as she says her goodbyes.

Without anyone to play with, Julian spent the morning playing games and after finishing, he gets ready for his classes.
