Chapter 14 - REHEARSAL

The Spicy Rehearsal

Scene 2 required you both to stand close, almost face-to-face. You had to deliver a line: "I don't hate you. I just don't trust you."

You spoke it calmly, but your heart raced. Jungkook replied with his line: "Then give me one chance."

His voice was low, serious. The whole class went silent. Even the teacher smiled.

Your friends whispered: "OMG… this looks real!"

You quickly stepped back, embarrassed. Jungkook smirked, clearly enjoying your reaction.

The school was decorated with lights and banners. Crowds of parents, students, and teachers filled the ground. Stalls sold food, games, and crafts. Music played everywhere.

You were nervous for the drama. Your group cheered you on. Jungkook was calm, hands in pockets, looking like he owned the stage.

The Drama Performance

Scene 1 — the fight. You shouted your lines at him with full energy. He shouted back, eyes locked on you. The audience clapped, enjoying the tension.

Scene 2 — the close moment. You delivered your line softly. He stepped closer, voice steady. The crowd went silent. It felt too real. Your heart thumped loudly.

Scene 3 — the ending. You both shook hands on stage. The audience cheered loudly. Your teacher clapped proudly.

But when you walked off stage, Jungkook whispered: "You didn't act. You meant it." You froze. Was he teasing… or serious?

After the drama, everyone enjoyed the festival. You walked with your friends, eating cotton candy and laughing. Suddenly, you saw Jungkook near the food stalls with his group. He was laughing with Taesung, but his eyes kept flicking toward you.

Your friends noticed. "Y/n, he's looking at you again!" You ignored them, but your cheeks warmed.

Later that night, you went to the library corner where stalls were quieter. You wanted peace. But Jungkook followed.

Jungkook: "Why are you hiding here?"

Y/n: "I'm not hiding. I just wanted silence."

Jungkook: "You always run away when I talk."

Y/n: "Because you always tease."

Jungkook: serious tone "Not always. Sometimes I mean it."

You blinked. "What do you mean?"

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. "In the drama… when I said 'give me one chance'… I wasn't acting."

Your heart skipped. You stared at him, speechless.

Before you could reply, your friends called your name loudly from far away. You quickly walked off, leaving him standing alone.

At the end of the festival, the results were announced. Your class won Best Drama Performance. Everyone screamed with joy.

But while celebrating, you noticed Sol Hee talking to Jungkook. She laughed, touched his arm lightly. He didn't move away.

Your chest tightened. Was he serious about you… or just playing around with everyone?

You turned away, pretending to be happy with your group. But inside, the fire of rivalry and confusion burned stronger than ever.

When the festival ended, students walked toward the gate. You walked with your group, smiling faintly. Jungkook walked behind with his boys.

For one second, your eyes met again. He didn't smirk. He didn't tease. He just looked at you — steady, unreadable.

And you thought: "This is not just rivalry anymore. Something is changing. Something I can't control."

The classroom was noisy as usual. You sat with your group, quietly flipping through your notebook. Jungkook entered with his boys, laughing loudly. But today… he didn't glance at you. Instead, he walked straight to Sol Hee's desk.

Jungkook: "Hey, can I borrow your pen?"

Sol Hee: smiling "Sure, but only if you return it."

He chuckled, taking the pen. Your friends nudged you. "Y/n, did you see that? He's talking sweetly to Sol Hee."

You forced a smile. "Good. Let him."

But inside, something twisted.

The teacher announced a new project: "Groups of three. Make a presentation on digital marketing."

Your group formed quickly. But Jungkook chose Sol Hee and Taesung. You froze. He didn't even ask you. He just smiled at Sol Hee and said: "Let's do it together."

During practice, you saw them sitting side by side, laughing at slides, sharing ideas. Sol Hee leaned closer to show him something on the laptop. He didn't move away. Your chest felt heavy.

You sat with your girls, eating quietly. Across the room, Jungkook and Sol Hee shared snacks. He offered her a bite of his sandwich. She laughed and refused, but he insisted playfully. Finally, she took it. Everyone around teased them.

Your friends whispered: "Y/n, it's obvious now. He likes Sol Hee."

You nodded calmly. "Yes. That's why I'll stop bothering him. Let him be happy."

But your heart screamed silently.

Later, you walked alone in the corridor. Suddenly, Jungkook appeared behind you. "Y/n, wait." You turned, expression blank. "What?"

He hesitated. "You didn't talk to me today."

You shrugged. "You were busy with Sol Hee."

He frowned slightly. "Why are you ignoring me?"

You replied coldly: "I'm not. I just don't want to disturb you. Go spend time with her."

He froze, confused. Before he could reply, Sol Hee called his name from the other side. "Jungkook! Come here!" He glanced at her, then at you. You turned away and walked off.

Preparations for the upcoming school festival dance began. Pairs were chosen. Your friends teased you: "Y/n, maybe you'll get Jungkook as partner!" You shook your head. "No. He'll choose Sol Hee."

And you were right. When the teacher asked for pairs, Jungkook immediately stood beside Sol Hee. "Ma'am, we'll dance together." Sol Hee smiled brightly. The teacher agreed.

You felt your throat tighten. You pretended to be busy tying your shoelaces.

You stayed late in class, finishing notes. From the hall, you heard music. Curious, you walked quietly to the dance room. Through the glass door, you saw them — Jungkook and Sol Hee practicing.

He held her hand, guiding her steps. She laughed when she stumbled, and he steadied her by the waist. Your heart cracked. It looked too real. Not practice. Something deeper.

You turned away quickly, tears stinging your eyes. You whispered to yourself: "Stop it, Y/n. He loves her. Not you."

That night, the class WhatsApp group buzzed. Someone posted a photo of Jungkook and Sol Hee dancing. Caption: "Our cutest pair 💕"

Everyone spammed hearts and claps. You didn't reply. You put your phone down, staring at the ceiling.

Your mind whispered: "It's confirmed. He loves her. I should let him go."

In class, Jungkook tried to talk to you. "Y/n, did you finish the homework?"

You replied shortly: "Yes."

He frowned. "That's all?" You nodded, turning to your notebook.

He leaned closer. "Why are you acting like this?" You said calmly: "Because you don't need me. You have Sol Hee."

His eyes widened. He opened his mouth to reply, but Sol Hee entered, calling his name. He looked at her… then back at you. You lowered your eyes, ignoring him completely.

At dismissal, you walked out with your group. Jungkook walked behind with Sol Hee. She laughed at something he said, and he smiled softly. You didn't look back. You kept walking, pretending to be fine.

But inside, your heart whispered painfully: "Even if he loves her… I'll step aside. I'll ignore him. I'll let him go."

And that decision felt heavier than any exam, any rivalry, any fight.

The classroom was buzzing as usual. You sat quietly, pretending to be busy with your notebook. Jungkook entered with his group, laughing, but his eyes searched for you. When he saw you ignoring him, his smile faded.

He walked past your desk, muttering low: Jungkook: "Still ignoring me?" You didn't reply. Your friends noticed but stayed silent.

During the second period, the teacher left the class for a meeting. The room turned noisy. Jungkook suddenly stood up, walked straight to your desk, and leaned down.

Jungkook: "Y/n, what's your problem? Why are you acting like I don't exist?" You looked up calmly. Y/n: "Because it's easier that way."

Jungkook: "Easier for who? You or me?" You shrugged.

Y/n: "For both. You don't need me. You're fine without me."

His jaw tightened. Jungkook: "You think I don't care? You think I don't notice when you ignore me?" You stayed silent. He leaned closer, voice sharp but low:

Jungkook: "Stop running away. If you don't like me, say it. Don't act like I'm invisible."

Your friends froze, watching the scene. You replied softly: Y/n: "I never said I don't like you. I just… don't want to disturb your life."

For a second, his eyes softened. But then he smirked slightly, covering the tension.

Jungkook: "Disturb my life? You already do. Every single day."
