Jars of Resonance

The shop smelled like ozone and old books. The walls were lined not with shelves, but with thousands of glass jars. Inside them, swirling mists of different colors moved sluggishly.

An old woman with spectacles made of tuning forks stood behind the counter. "Welcome," she said. Her voice sounded like it was coming from a vinyl record—warm and slightly crackling. "We don't sell goods here, young man. We sell frequencies. Memories of sound."

​Elias stepped closer to a shelf. A label on a blue jar read: The Crash of Ocean Waves, 1994. Another, glowing soft gold, read: A Cat's Purr at Midnight.
