Chapter 160 - Principles of the Ley Lines

"How could that be possible..."

Andreas shook his head with a chuckle. "As the guardians of magic on Azeroth, the Blue Dragonflight manages the structure of this planet's ley lines. I simply wish to obtain His Majesty Malygos's permission to adjust ley line nodes within a certain range."

"From that perspective, as long as someone within the Blue Dragonflight can perform the same task, I don't necessarily need to meet Malygos in person. After all... his current state isn't exactly great."

Azuregos narrowed his eyes. "Ley line nodes? That is not a domain mortals should touch. Even among the Blue Dragons, only a few core members can manage and maintain them. What exactly is your purpose?"

"Well..." Andreas spread his hands and gave a distant yet polite smile. "It's just a preliminary concept. Whether it can succeed requires repeated verification. I won't embarrass myself by speaking of it prematurely."

Hmph~

A gust of air snorted from Azuregos's nostrils. Leticia hurriedly held down her hood to keep the "blast of disdain" from messing up her clothes and hair.

"Whatever you're plotting, I advise you to give up," Azuregos reminded him with a cold laugh. "Back during the era of the Night Empire, Azshara made a similar request, and His Majesty rejected her without hesitation."

"Let's put it this way." Azuregos began a brief lecture for Andreas. "Let us compare Azeroth to a humanoid organism. If the Well of Eternity was the blood flowing from a wound Azeroth previously suffered, the ley lines are her capillaries, and the nodes are her lymph nodes."

"However, what flows through Azeroth's vessels is not the blood mortals possess, but pure Arcane energy. What we, the Blue Dragonflight, need to do is facilitate the metabolism of Azeroth's ley lines."

"With the Great Sundering of the Well of Eternity having damaged Azeroth's essence to some extent, we must ensure that the capillaries and lymph nodes are not abused by half-baked mortals, further aggravating Azeroth's injuries."

Azuregos asked with a mocking look, "Now, do you still wish to obtain permission to adjust ley line nodes? Or do you have the confidence that you won't harm Azeroth while doing so?"

"Hmm..." Azuregos's analogy was novel. While Leticia found it somewhat confusing, Andreas, as a transmigrator, understood it perfectly.

"I understand what you mean, but I have a question." A smile tugged at the corner of Andreas's mouth. "What about the new Well of Eternity created by Illidan? It couldn't possibly be that he dug another wound into Azeroth, right?"

"That's different." Azuregos shook his head. "Illidan used a clever trick. He injected the essence of the Well of Eternity he had secretly bottled into the largest ley line node in northern Kalimdor, borrowing the power of that node to create a new... wait!"

At this point, Azuregos seemed to realize something. He widened his eyes at Andreas. "You... could it be you want to replicate Illidan's method?"

Andreas chuckled and dodged the question. "It's not that easy. Besides, even if I created a new source of magic, I wouldn't have another World Tree to hide it. I wouldn't carelessly do something so short-sighted and reckless."

Azuregos appeared deeply puzzled. "Then what exactly do you want the authority to adjust ley line nodes for? The only thing I can think of is an artificial source of magic, yet you deny it."

"Deny it? No, I didn't deny it." Andreas smiled mysteriously. "Who wouldn't want an endless source of magic? Unfortunately, as I am now, I cannot protect such a treasure."

"Hmph!" Azuregos sneered. "In the end, it's just the same old Highborne mindset. Fine..."

Tracing a mark in the air with his left claw—one that looked like a series of ghostly runes—Azuregos blew it toward Andreas.

"I don't believe you will succeed, nor do I know His Majesty Malygos' whereabouts. Furthermore, I have no authority to approve your whimsical ideas. This is my sigil. You can use it to go to Wyrmrest Temple and seek help from the Blue Dragon Ambassador, who can then send you to Coldarra to meet the Acting Guardian, Arygos."

Azuregos readjusted his posture, comfortably coiling into a ball and closing his eyes. "This is as much as I can do. If you want the authority to adjust the ley lines, besides obtaining direct approval from His Majesty, you must simultaneously convince the Blue Prince Arygos and the Dragon Consort Saragosa."

"Good luck to you. I won't see you out. Remember to inform me once you've succeeded."

...

On the way back to Starfall Village, Leticia said crossly, "Andreas, that stupid dragon clearly doesn't think your plan will succeed. Are you really prepared to cross the ocean to Northrend?"

Andreas, in his Gryphon form, nodded. "I will go eventually, but not right now. I originally came to Azuregos just to try my luck. Creating a magic source cannot be rushed. Moonshadow's Rest's current magical foundation can hardly support a whole magitech industrial system. We'll take it slow."

From Azuregos's words, Andreas confirmed one thing: even members of the Blue Dragonflight didn't know where Malygos had gone. The Spell-Weaver had completely vanished from everyone's sight. Finding him to get permission to adjust the ley lines would be as difficult as reaching the heavens.

Arygos and Saragosa, huh?

Andreas didn't have much memory of the name Saragosa, but he had a fairly deep impression of Arygos. Arygos was Malygos's eldest son and would become famous in a grand war in the future as a hero of the Blue Dragonflight. Unfortunately, because he blocked the path of a certain "chosen one" to rise to power, his end was not very good.

By the way, is that legendary draconic 'chosen one' born yet?

Thinking of that embarrassment of a dragon (Kalecgos), Andreas decided to look for him when he visited Coldarra in the future.

After obtaining Azuregos's sigil and preparing for a future trip to Wyrmrest Temple, Andreas's itinerary in Winterspring officially came to an end. This Satyr war had provided him with much inspiration and gain; he needed to return to Moonshadow's Rest to let it settle for a while.

Although Leticia was reluctant to part with her new friend, after receiving a promise from Lunara that she would find time to visit Moonshadow's Rest, the easily satisfied girl finally followed Andreas home.

This time, there was no Arcanist to send them off. Andreas carried Leticia, flying southwest from Winterspring. Passing over Felwood, the scars of the Satyr war were still clearly visible. The Fel-tainted Jadefire Run and Jadefire Glen had their landscapes semi-permanently altered. Restoring land corrupted by Fel would take the Druids a long time. Considering those "Sleeping Luohans" (lazy monks) who stayed in the Emerald Dream all day, Andreas didn't hold much hope.

Finally returning to Moonshadow's Rest on the west coast of Ashenvale, before the two travelers could even catch their breath, the strange atmosphere in the town caught their attention.

"Huh? A large-scale Naga invasion?"
