The square became a hive of activity. The tribe members, exhausted but wide-eyed with wonder, began to filter into the golden buildings. They touched the smooth, warm stone walls and marveled at the clean, clear water flowing from the filtration taps. It was a miracle of engineering. Within minutes, the square was clearing, leaving only Lucius and Evelina standing in the center.
Evelina didn't look at him. She turned on her heel and began walking toward the western construction site without saying a single word to Lucius.
"Evelina? Wait!" Lucius followed her, his long strides easily matching her pace. "Is anything wrong? If the housing isn't exactly what you wanted or if the tribe is too large for the area, we can expand the plans. I brought extra resources. I can help with the heavy lifting tonight. I don't need to rest."
