Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Final Decision

I smoked a cigarette in the smoking area to calm myself down. I had a feeling that if I tried to push Wang Di down right now, she probably wouldn't resist. But I was also afraid of getting entangled with her. After turning it over in my mind, I decided this woman was still off-limits for now.

I took a deep drag on the cigarette, telling myself I had to stay calm. I waited until the reaction stirred up by the Epimedium flower's scent had completely subsided before slowly making my way back to my office.

"What did Wang Di want with you? You were gone for so long," Liu Wei asked curiously as soon as I walked in.

"Nothing much, just said that me clocking in exactly on time every day sets a bad example for the company," I made up an excuse to brush it off.

"That busybody. Just you watch, bro, sooner or later I'm gonna fuck her," Liu Wei said viciously.

I rolled my eyes and sat down at my desk, not wanting to engage with him anymore.

However, Liu Wei tapped on the table, his face excited as he said to me, "Hey man, your sister-in-law has already agreed. Now it's just up to your wife to say yes."

"Agreed? That fast?" I was surprised.

"Heh heh," Liu Wei flashed his signature sleazy grin again. "I told you your sister-in-law has a thing for you. Before, when picking couples, she was picky about this and that. But as soon as I mentioned you, she didn't hesitate at all. Agreed right away, super straightforward."

"Alright, I'll talk to Nan Nan about it tonight, but I can't guarantee the result," I replied distractedly. Honestly, I was still full of internal conflict.

"No problem, man. Your sister-in-law said, if your wife doesn't agree, our couple wouldn't mind having a threesome with you," Liu Wei laughed.

"Damn," I couldn't help but exclaim, quickly lowering my voice to ask, "You'd be okay with that too? Aren't you getting the short end of the stick?"

"Can't look at it that way. You still haven't grasped the essence, bro. Looks like I need to straighten out your thinking," Liu Wei picked up his teacup, took a few sips of his goji berry tea, and continued, "Let me ask you, is it necessary for a couple to keep such a strict score? You have fun, I don't, so I lose out? That's not how it works, bro. Wife swapping is about swapping hearts, not kidneys. My heart will always belong to my wife. I love my wife, so if she's happy, I'm happy too."

Liu Wei put on a wise-man act, smacking his lips as he went on, "Same principle applies. My wife loves me too. If someday I want a threesome, she'll gladly accept and go along with it. I'm happy, so she's happy. What's the point of wife swapping anyway? Isn't it just to add some excitement for the couple, to make boring life more interesting? Is there any real difference in essence between a threesome and wife swapping? Think about it, isn't that the truth?"

I was left speechless by Liu Wei's words. It did seem to make sense. And I had already experienced a threesome with my wife and her best friend. Looking at it from another angle, why should only men get to have threesomes, and not women?

I scratched my head a few times, suddenly realizing something: I had been completely brainwashed by Liu Wei. Yet, I still felt what he said was right. It was truly exasperating.

"Bro, you gotta look at things more openly. Send all those traditions to hell. Life is just a few short decades. Take away childhood, youth, and old age, and there's not much time left for us to let loose. You gotta enjoy it when you can," Liu Wei shook his head, continuing to brainwash me.

"You and sister-in-law are really quite open-minded. I understand what you mean. I'll try my best to convince Nan Nan," I said.

"Waiting for your good news. Honestly, I really like your wife. Just thinking about her, thinking about her tits, her ass... I'm drooling just thinking about it, heh heh," Liu Wei flashed his signature smile again, but this time he quickly reined it in, his face turning serious as he said, "But thinking is one thing, saying is another. You must remember, if your wife doesn't agree, then just forget it. Absolutely cannot force her. Otherwise, I'll look down on you, got it?"

"Do you even have to say that? I would never force my wife to do anything she doesn't want to do," I retorted irritably.

This was one area where Liu Wei was actually very good. Even though the guy was incredibly sleazy, he genuinely doted on his wife and never forced women. That's also why I could be such close buddies with him.

"That's good. Wanting women, sleeping with women, but also knowing how to cherish women, not making things difficult for women—that's what makes you a true bro of mine, Liu Wei," Liu Wei laughed.

I rolled my eyes and ignored him. Liu Wei also stopped talking, hugging his phone and furiously sending messages. I didn't know if he was flirting with some girl or explaining the situation to his own wife. My guess was it was probably the latter.

Holding my head, my mind was in a bit of a mess. For one, I really wasn't sure if I was prepared. Secondly, swapping with acquaintances—I didn't know if my wife would agree. I needed to figure out what to say.

I usually couldn't be bothered going home at noon. Today, it wasn't laziness; I just hadn't figured out how to talk to my wife yet, so I simply decided not to go back.

The boring day finally ended amidst my idle chatter with Liu Wei. Liu Wei patted my shoulder with meaningful significance, then scampered off home. Before leaving, he didn't forget to flirt with the receptionist, Li Meng, at the front desk, nearly making her blow her top on the spot.

Liu Wei's shamelessness and sleaziness were famous throughout the entire company. Almost every female employee in the whole company, except for Wang Di, had been flirted with by him.

Basically, in the company, aside from me, hardly anyone was willing to talk to him. Because I knew that Liu Wei was actually a man of very strong principles, completely different from how he appeared on the surface.

With an uneasy heart, I returned home. To my surprise, my wife was already back and had cooked dinner, which would have been absolutely impossible before.

"Did the sun rise from the west today? The career woman actually got off work early?" I teased.

"Don't tease me. There haven't been any important matters at the company recently. I've handed everything over to my subordinates. I was just idle anyway, so I came back to cook," my wife said while setting the tableware.

Actually, I knew my wife was truly making a change. She had already shifted her focus from work to family.

I helped my wife bring the dishes to the table. As we ate, I lowered my head, lost in thought about how to bring it up.

"Honey, what are you thinking about?" My wife quickly noticed something was off.

I took a deep breath and told her about the plan to swap with Liu Wei and his wife.

My wife didn't say anything, just kept her head down and ate her meal.

"If you don't agree, just forget it. I'll look for others," I said guiltily.

"I didn't say I disagree," my wife said, looking up.

I looked at my wife and asked softly, "You agree?"

"Mhm," my wife gave a soft hum, her fair face instantly flushing bright red.

I looked at my wife in some surprise, momentarily at a loss for words. Instead, it was my wife who composed herself first. Keeping her head down, her face still red, she said, "Actually, I also wanted to start with acquaintances. We've met Liu Wei and his wife several times before. I think they're pretty good."

"Then... then I'll arrange a time with Liu Wei tomorrow," I said.

"You decide. I'll listen to you," my wife said, dropping this sentence before getting up to clear the dishes. It was obvious she was feeling a bit flustered.
