Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Rebirth of the King of Curses

An uninhabited desert island in the East Blue.

The island was deserted, yet covered in dense green vegetation. Towering trees stood tall and verdant, their leaves forming a thick canopy overhead. Sunlight filtered through the gaps, scattering golden rays across the ground.

Within this silent forest, a man lay on the grass with his eyes closed. Wrinkles lined his face, giving him an aged, imposing air.

He was tall and powerfully built, his body as perfectly proportioned as a sculpture. Every muscle was taut and defined, packed with explosive strength, as if forged from iron.

Suddenly, the man opened his eyes.

He propped himself up with one hand and sat cross-legged on the grass, taking a deep breath to steady his thoughts. After calming his mind, a translucent panel silently unfolded before his eyes.

Rody stared at the panel, his blood surging with excitement.

"So this is my foundation…"

He rose to his feet, extended two fingers, and casually flicked them toward the forest ahead.

A razor-sharp slash shot forward.

In an instant, trees and massive boulders were split cleanly in half, collapsing in chaotic heaps. The forest ahead was reduced to wreckage.

Looking at the destruction he had caused, Rody burst into laughter.

"Hahaha… this feels amazing."

Hands in his pockets, he walked out of the ruined forest and onto the beach. Before him stretched an endless sea, calm and empty. Aside from a few seabirds circling overhead, no signs of life could be seen.

After a moment of thought, Rody formed a hand seal in front of his chest.

A shadow beneath his feet writhed violently—and a massive, bird-like shikigami burst forth. Its body dwarfed a human's, wings spreading wide as it let out a sharp cry.

"Nue."

Rody leaped lightly onto its broad back. With a powerful flap of its wings, sand exploded into the air as Nue ascended into the sky.

Choosing a random direction, Rody folded his arms and allowed his thoughts to wander as they flew.

What he had inherited was Ryomen Sukuna's power prior to the final battle—excluding the cursed tools Hiten and Kamutoke, as well as techniques such as World-Cutting Slash and the evolved healing technique Sukuna later mastered.

Still, with his terrifying learning ability, once he understood the principles, mastering them would only be a matter of time.

"As for weapons…" Rody muttered.

"Materials like Wapol Metal should work. After forging them, I can let the weapon consume a Devil Fruit. That should be… interesting."

As he pondered, the outline of a small island gradually emerged on the horizon.

Rody wasn't in any rush. Perhaps influenced by Sukuna's nature, his appetite—and his patience—had grown immense. When there was nothing urgent to do, he didn't mind letting his thoughts drift.

Cocoyasi village

"Hahahahaha! Come on, you idiots! Take everything—food, women, money! I want it all!"

A towering man nearly three meters tall stood at the bow of a pirate ship. His face was vicious, eyes feral, with only a few greasy strands of hair clinging to his scalp. He grinned with yellowed teeth, wielding a massive axe that weighed several hundred pounds.

Captain of the Axe Pirates — Gree Dong

Bounty: 10,000,000 Berries

At his command, pirates who had long been suppressing their bloodlust surged off the ship, screaming as they rushed into the town.

In moments, the once-peaceful Cocoyasi village descended into chaos. Screams, cries, and pleas for mercy echoed through the streets.

"Brother… won't all this noise attract the Marines?"

A short, hunched man—barely one and a half meters tall—approached Gree Dong. His face was wretched, hair thin and greasy, a cigarette dangling from his lips.

"Huh?" Gree Dong snorted. "Lumen, do you know who I am?"

"I already checked. This place falls under Marine Base 16. The one in charge is that useless Marine Captain, Nezumi."

He burst into laughter.

"That rat wouldn't dare show his face. I'm a pirate with a ten-million bounty! Hahahahaha!"

In the East Blue—the weakest of the four seas—a bounty of ten million Berries was enough to make someone a feared figure.

No wonder Gree Dong was so arrogant.

Gree Lumen fell silent. Though he was the vice-captain and Gree Dong's younger brother, his own bounty was only 4,000,000 Berries, and his strength was nowhere near his brother's.

Soon, the pirates had seized full control of the town.

The townspeople were dragged in groups to the central square. Any resistance was swiftly crushed beneath blades and boots.

Gree Dong strode into the square, axe resting on his shoulder. He scanned the terrified crowd and barked at his men.

"Bring me the mayor."

An elderly man in his sixties was soon dragged forward.

Gree Dong grabbed him with one hand and lifted him off the ground.

"Tell me," he growled, "is there any hidden money in this town? Lie, and I'll slaughter every last one of you."

"T-there isn't any…" the mayor stammered. "You've taken everything already. All that's left are the watermelons that haven't been harvested."

Gree Dong scowled and tossed the old man aside.

"Then smash every watermelon in this place."

He raised his axe, preparing to kill the mayor—

"C-Captain!" a pirate suddenly screamed. "L-look at the sky!"

Gree Dong frowned and followed his gaze upward.

A black shadow was plummeting from the heavens.

A violent gust erupted in the center of the square, dust and debris swirling wildly. When the dust finally settled, a man stood there.

Tall. Calm. Wrinkled-faced.

Rody.

He swept his indifferent gaze across the square before settling on Gree Dong. After a brief pause, he sighed softly.

"The world really is full of strange creatures."

Gree Dong snapped out of his shock, veins bulging on his forehead as he pointed his axe at Rody.

"Brat! What are you staring at?!"

"I'm Axe Gree Dong!"

The surrounding pirates roared in support.

"You're dead, kid!"

"Our captain's bounty is in the tens of millions!"

"If you piss him off, he'll split you in half with that axe!"
