"I told you that we should have turned left a few miles back Sarah, now look where we are."
In the Village of the Mountains, a fight has broken out between the children of the north and south of the village. The children of the north stronger than those in the south. But due to certain circumstances between a boy from the north killing a girl from the south, they have broken out into a little, what they call, war.
Six boys had been following two girls that had stumbled into their territory, losing their way as they were trying to get home which was in the south east of the village.
"Where are we, I've never seen this part of the village before" said Sarah. She was the smallest of the two, about 14 years old, with deep, dark brown hair which came half-way down her back and golden brown eyes. She wore a rich red skirt, and a green shirt.
"That's because we're in the north of the village, we're in "their" territory, better keep our wits about us, in case we're ambushed" whispered the other girl, to make sure no one could hear them, knowing the danger that they were in.
She was older, being 18 years old. She had the same hair as Sarah, but had green eyes. She wore a sapphire blue shirt with a picture of a penguin on the front, and was wearing a pair of black jogging trousers. After realising where they were and what they were doing, they both decided to turn back the way they came, only to be blocked by the six boys that had been following them.
"Well, well, well. Look what we have here, two girls that appear to be lost and all alone". The boy that
l
spoke seemed to be the leader of the group. He was a tall, well-built person, with short blonde hair, and a scar across his left cheek. He wore a black tank top and blue denim jeans. Slowly, he approached the two girls, putting his hand on the older girls left shoulder. "Anything could happen" he said in a dark, sly voice, with a huge grin on his face. "What's your name?"
"Sophie" the older girl said in scared voice. "You're Brandon, aren't you?"
"So, my reputation is even known in the south. I must say, that's an achievement." Brandon appeared to be happy with himself. Then the joy on his face had vanished, and he now showed no emotion, which scared Sophie and Sarah even more. "You know what happens to those that enter our territory, right.
Should have thought about that before you got lost"
"Please" begged Sophie "All we're trying to do is get home".
Suddenly, she found herself plummeting to the floor. Brandon was well known for showing not the slightest sign of mercy. With this reputation behind him, he found a personal joy in punching girls to the floor, which he had just done to Sophie.
Sophie found that she couldn't see out of her right eye, and was dazed as she hit her head on a slab of concrete that was lying on the floor. "Please just let us go, I'm begging you" she pleaded.
"No mercy for the weak" Brandon said in a dark, deep voice.
He lifted his right hand to hit Sarah in the face. Just as he was about to swing, he found that his hand was being held back. Brandon turned his head to see a boy holding his hand
"If I was you, I would reconsider the actions that you are taking, you may regret it" said a low scary voice from the boy.
"Who are you" asked Brandon, pushing the boy away from him.
"Me" said the boy. He was 16 years old, tall and skinny. He had short black hair with eyes bluer than the deepest ocean. He wore a black shirt, with black jeans, and a pair of black assault boots. He also wore a long black coat with turquoise patterns running through it, which you would only see special military soldiers wear. "I believe you've heard of me in this little conflict you've come to know as war"
"You're Jay Parkinson aren't you? You're the one who goes against both sides for no reason" Brandon said, with his face full of shock and disgust.
"No reason? I have a perfect reason that your tiny mind couldn't comprehend. Now, enough of the chitchat. Are you going to leave these two alone, or am I going to have to teach you and your group of
wimps how to treat girls properly."
As Jay said this, a chill went down the back of Brandon's spine. He felt a fear he had never felt before.
Could he, a lone wolf, take out six of the strongest fighters from the north? After a few seconds of utter silence. Brandon straightened himself, and walked over to Jay, and then swung a right hook, hitting Jay clean in the face, and knocking him down to the floor.
"Boys, finish him off."
As soon as Brandon said this, the rest of his gang picked up Jay and started to beat him senseless.
After a few minutes of beating and kicking, they dropped Jay on the floor. He lay there motionless. Now that he was out of the way, Brandon could return to the business at hand. Sophie and Sarah were in shock, they had just seen a boy being killed right in front of their eyes, and now they were next. Brandon was now right in front of Sophie. As he leaned down towards the two helpless girls, a small, deep, dark laugh could be heard from behind him. As he turned around, he could not believe what he was seeing.
Jay, who was presumed dead, was standing, breathing heavily, with the other 5 people from Brandon's gang. The 5 strongest of the north, lying at his feet. With blood running down from his forehead and his nose bleeding, Jay was laughing. It started off quiet, but after a few minutes, it started to become louder, until he was laughing uncontrollably. Then, his eyes turned red, and he started to growl. Brandon was no
longer in control of his body. He had been overtaken by something that he had never felt in his life.
Something he wished he'd never feel again. He was controlled by fear. "Y-y-you did this, o-o-out of a-a-anger?" he stuttered in a quiet, shaky voice.
"Anger?" growled Jay "I'm not angry. I'm furious." His tone was increasing. Jay now had a black aura about him, and was now getting more and more worked up. "You follow 2 girls. You hit one and threaten to hit the other. You beat me to the ground and turn back to the 2 girls. And you expect me to be calm. Well now, you better start running, because I enjoy hunting my prey."
Now he had an evil grin on his face. Jay had now turned into some possessed demon, ready to mercilessly kill anything that would upset him. Brandon tried to move, but he couldn't. He tried to shout, but all that came out of his mouth was silence. He now knew why Jay was feared by the north and south of the village. He had an ability that when being used, could have destroyed half of Aminston. Having this he had been given the name, The
Apocalypse Dragon. Jay had become impatient of Brandon's silence and stillness. So he held out his hand, and out of thin air, had managed to create a sword. The sword was that of a Katana, but had a black handle and a bright turquoise and white blade.
"Apocalypse Angel Blade!"
After seeing this, Brandon couldn't hold the fear anymore; he shrunk and started to mutter to himself, rocking forwards and backwards like a baby when it is frightened. And then started to become delirious.
The fear had been too much for him. He had now lost his mind and became insane. This didn't seem to affect Jay, he was now walking over to Brandon slowly, and every footstep was like a pelt of thunder during a tropical storm. He seemed to be much heavier than he was. When he reached Brandon, he looked down at him and gave a sigh of disgust, and raised his sword above his head, ready to strike the now incapacitated Brandon. Just as he was about to swing, Sophie held her arms around him from behind, trying to bring him away from Brandon.
"What are you doing!" said Jay in a growling voice, that sent chills down the back of Sophie's vertebrae, giving her the biggest Goosebumps she's ever had, and causing her to shake uncontrollably.
"Y-y-you need to calm down. I know what he did was wrong, but he can't die. I have no idea who you are, but you shouldn't bring yourself to his level."
Jay's crimson red eyes widened, and he then came to terms with what he had done, and what he was about to do. With that, he moved back slowly, and brought his sword down to his side. His eyes then returned to normal, and the blade then vanished.
The sun was setting, the birds were getting restless, and the light in the sky was becoming that of pure darkness. Realising what he had done, Jay had decided to take Sophie and the other girl home.
"Tell me. Who are you?" asked Sophie, still cautious of Jay after what she had just seen.
"I'm who everyone calls "The Apocalypse Angel", but you can just call me Jay." said Jay as he went to pick up the little girl.
"I'm Sophie, this here is Sarah"
"Nice to meet you Sarah, sorry for frightening you" apologised Jay.
"It's OK. I was kind of glad that someone came to help us." Sarah said with a big smile on her face.
Jay picked up Sarah, and passed her to Sophie, who then started carrying her on her back. "May I ask you a question Jay?" said Sophie, looking at Jay as they walked through the small alleyways of the village towards the south.
"Fire away"
Sarah was silent for a few seconds, then looked at Jay and said "What happened to you back there? You seemed to have turned into an animal."
Jay was silent for a few seconds, and then replied "I was born with an ability that the military look for, when I become angry over something, I go mental. I can't control myself. I hurt people, my physical abilities increase and my mentality changes into that of…." He stopped in his tracks and thought for a minute or two, "I guess you could say I turn into a human wolf." After saying this, he continued walking.
"I see. You should enroll at the WSA" said Sophie, "ever heard of it?"
"Nope. What is it?" he asked in an intriguing voice
"It's a school that helps children of all ages from around the world deal with special abilities that they have. Not only on how to use them, but how to control them. I hear it's the most respected school in the world." Said Sophie, now looking left to right, trying to find her home.
"I don't think so. I'm not exactly an academic person, I wouldn't exactly fit in. Also, as you've just seen, I'm a bit on the destructive side."
Jay didn't seem interested. But deep inside, he was considering the fact that he would be able to start a new life away from the village that had turned him into the monster he is now. He put his hands in his pockets and looked up to the darkening sky. He thought about how he would survive at an entirely new environment, and then looked forwards. He then took a glance at Sophie. She appeared to be tired, and still in a bit of shock. Sarah on the other hand, was fast asleep.
"She appears to be having fun." Jay said in a jokey voice. Sophie turned her head to see Sarah. And then she smiled. Jay had never seen such a beautiful smile before, and it warmed his heart.
Just as they turned a corner, there was a well-dressed man with a briefcase standing on the other side of
the street. Sophie then turned to Jay and said "My house is just here, thanks for before". "No problem, I hate when people are on the weaker side and can't do anything about It." replied Jay.
As Sophie carried Sarah down the road, the well-dressed man walked across the street to where Jay was.
"Are you Jay Parkinson" asked the man, his voice was deep but friendly.
"Yeah. Who are you? And what do you want?" replied Jay in an irritated voice.
The man smiled and said "My name is Professor Mitchel. I've come to talk to you about, as your friend said, the World Skills Academy."
Jay was surprised; someone from the most respected school in the world had come out to personally speak to him. He couldn't help but feel giddy and proud of himself for no reason.
"What is it you want?" he asked.
"We at the WSA have noticed your special ability, and the fact that you have no clue on how to use it, or
how to control it. All we simply ask is that you come to the WSA and learn more about your ability." The Professor said.
Jay could not help that he was going to be leaving the village he was protecting from itself. The stupid thing the children now called war. He stood there for a minute, listening to the birds that flew over-head,
and the wind that was no starting to die down. Until finally, he reluctantly replied "I'll join. But first of all,
what is it about my "skill" that interests you so much?"
"Not much. The Academy is there so that it can help all those with abilities to learn more about them.
For you, yours is a special case. We have never seen anything like it before, so we want you to come in
and see what this unique skill of yours is." answered Professor Michel.
He seemed to be an interesting man, and very persuasive. Jay was now confident in the choice he was
making. He was always intrigued by his own ability. Now he had the chance to find out what it was all
about.
"When do I leave?" he seemed very impatient. He just wanted to leave as soon as he could.
"Tomorrow morning" replied the Professor "we leave at 7 o'clock, so be sure to be ready. And no need
for your things, they've already been moved to your room at the dorms." The professor was now starting
to walk down the street that had become dark during their conversation.
"You knew I was going to join before you even asked me, didn't you?" asked Jay in a disgusted voice.
"Of course" replied the Professor "that's my ability." And with that, he vanished into the darkness.
Jay had now returned to his home, only to find that all his stuff had gone. His house was a small shack,
slap bang in the middle of the village. It was mostly made of wood, but it kept the cold out. He thought
to himself how the professor knew the answer before even talking to him, and what ability was it that he
had. This was the first time he had met someone else who had an "Ability". He didn't know what to feel.
Even though he had heard about the WSA, a school for those who have "Abilities", he didn't quite expect
to feel how he did then when he met one. After thinking about it for a couple of minutes, he decided not
to think about it anymore, call it a day and went to bed. He lay there wondering what just happened, and
whether the decision he made to leave his home was a good idea. And what would happen as his new
life would start on the next day
