Chapter 1 - Endless Pursuit

Realm of Radiance, Blazing Eclipse Prefecture.

The light of twin suns shone over the entire prefecture, making everything glow with an otherworldly aura.

Beneath the clear blue sky, the entire prefecture was in high spirits. Travellers flowed like rivers meeting the sea through the massive gates at the entrance to the city below.

Travellers, nobles, farmers; almost all people from every part of life could be seen below in the city, making their way through crowded streets and bustling markets.

The city consisted of towering buildings and huge mansions, clearly stating that this was a region for the ultra-rich.

But, the main attraction of the city was the majestic pavilion at its centre.

The Crimson Rain Pavilion.

Made up of the prefecture's most precious materials, it boasted the power of the prefecture's most influential family, the Lu family.

The most influential family in the prefecture, the Lu family had generations of shared history with the prefecture. Even governing the prefecture for three hundred years at one point in time.

But, not even the mightiest of titans can survive the flow of time. After so many years, the Lu family has lost it's glory. Yet it was still far from decline.

Right now, in the spacious courtyard behind the pavilion, a young man was sitting atop a large stone. The man was wearing pure white robes with streaks of grey lightning on it with an azure sash tied around his waist.

The stone below the man was glowing, with neon blue streaks dancing across it's surface.

In that glow, the young man's face looked like that of a divine angel.

In fact, the young man was... exceptionally handsome.

Face like that of polished jade, pure white skin like frost-kissed snow with pristine white hair, he looked like a snow god descending on the barren land.

Right now, his face was contorted with focus, his delicate brows furrowed tightly. He was trying to mend his crooked meridians.

Lu Xian, the first and only son of the Lu family's patriarch.

Born with a golden spoon in his mouth, he had never experienced tribulations in his life.

Yet, just five years ago, he had realised that his innate talent for martial arts had a devastating side-effect.

Frostflame Foal Physique.

A Heaveheart-grade constitution.

It allows Lu Xian to unleash 250% of any technique he learns, allowing him to fight opponents realms above him.

Yet, at the same time, his body suffers five times the backlash as compared to that of a normal martial artist.

It was due to this physique that his meridians had been damaged.

Soon, the glow of the stone dimmed and finally stopped. Lu Xian slowly opened his eyes. His delicate brows were furrowed.

"An entire year's worth of enriched Qi and all I could do was fix my crooked meridians by ten percent?"

Lu Xian let out a heavy sigh. It seems like his physique was more troublesome than he thought.

He slowly climbed down the stone and stood up. His pristine white hair was moving in the wind.

The day was about to be over.

Lu Xian looked at the darkening sky with half-lidded eyes. His eyes had a look of desperation in them.

But, soon that look was replaced by a quiet light of determination.

"No. This is not Earth. This world has many prospects, many opportunities just waiting to be grabbed by someone. There's always a solution for everything. I can't give up yet, I still have to keep my promise." Lu Xian steeled himself. He was not going to be dejected by this setback.

"What truly matters is my pursuit of the Dao. The endless pursuit that many people don't even get to experience in their lives."

Saying this, Lu Xian walked into Crimson Rain Pavilion. He passed many small rooms and halls and finally appeared before his room.

He stretched his hand and placed it on the door.

Instantly, the door disintegrated into brown dust. Lu Xian took back his hand and entered the room.

As soon as he entered, the brown dust reformed back into the door. This was the Lu family's method of privacy- Door Dust.

Lu Xian quickly sat down on the meditating mat on the floor and took out a small ledger from his sleeves.

Within the ledger were pages and pages of methods that Lu Xian had used in these last three years to fix his meridians.

He opened a page, on top of the page was written "Enriched Qi Infusion". Lu Xian took out a pen and wrote beneath the line "Unsuccessful".

After that, he put back the ledger and took out a martial manual. The name of this manual was "Seven Nether Beasts Of Calamity".

This was an Earthborn Saint-grade martial art.

Way out of Lu Xian's current realm. Yet, it did not stop him from reading it.

Lu Xian had a hobby, that was to read. Martial manuals, cultivation techniques, elixer refinement, beast taming, anything that has a written record of, Lu Xian will read it. No matter if it is of righteous or demonic nature.

This was a hobby from Earth which he had still retained after being reincarnated into this world.

Even though he understood nothing of what was said in these records, he would still read them.

The martial manual he was reading was actually bought by him after paying a very hefty price. But, unlike normal times, he was actually trying to understand the martial art recorded in the manual.

Because that time had finally arrived.

The time when Lu Xian would have to fight seriously, without considering the repercussions.

It was time for the annual Pheonix-Qilin Recruitment of the most powerful sect of western part of the Realm Of Radiance, Black Sword Dragon Sect.

And this time, it was going to be very taxing for Lu Xian, both physically.....and emotionally.

After all, she was also participating this year.

Lu Xian couldn't help but think of the last time when he had seen her. As the images flashed through his mind, he unconsciously had clenched his fists tightly.

Not in anger.

But, in anticipation.
