Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 – Third Presence

The junction stabilized.

Not perfectly.

But enough that the surrounding spiritual flow returned to a slow, natural circulation.

Instructor Han replaced two of the stabilizing plates with smaller anchor markers.

"Temporary correction," he said. "The structure will hold for several months."

Senior Qiao nodded once.

"That's enough."

Their mission had not been to restore the entire network.

Only to prevent collapse.

Lin Xuan stepped out of the ravine.

The fragment inside his dantian had quieted again.

But the sensation had changed.

Before, it reacted to the nodes.

Now it seemed aware of the network itself.

Like a map that was slowly unfolding.

Xu Liang walked beside him.

"You understood the pressure distribution quickly."

It wasn't praise.

It was analysis.

Lin Xuan replied calmly.

"The structure guides the flow if you follow its logic."

Xu Liang studied him for a moment.

Then said nothing more.

Instructor Han was recording the junction structure into a jade slip when something shifted in the air.

Very faint.

But deliberate.

The masked cultivator noticed it first.

His head turned toward the upper ridge above the ravine.

Senior Qiao followed his gaze.

"Someone is watching."

No one panicked.

But everyone's posture changed.

Xu Liang moved slightly to the side, giving himself a clear angle toward the ridge line.

"Show yourself," he said calmly.

For several seconds—

Nothing happened.

Then a voice came from the trees above.

"You repaired it."

Not surprised.

Almost curious.

A figure stepped into view on the ridge.

Loose grey robes.

Unmarked.

Face uncovered.

A young cultivator — perhaps only a few years older than Lin Xuan.

Foundation realm.

But his qi felt… unusual.

Sharper.

More condensed.

Senior Qiao's expression hardened slightly.

"You triggered the junction earlier."

The stranger didn't deny it.

"I tested it."

Instructor Han frowned.

"You nearly destabilized the entire node."

The man shrugged slightly.

"I learned something from it."

Xu Liang's eyes narrowed.

"You're not Hollow Vein."

"No."

"Then who?"

The stranger looked down toward the ravine — toward the ancient plate.

Then his gaze shifted to Lin Xuan.

"You're the one who stabilized it."

Lin Xuan didn't answer.

But the stranger smiled faintly.

"Interesting."

Senior Qiao's voice turned colder.

"You interfered with a sect investigation."

"Did I?" the man replied calmly.

"You were studying the same network."

That was true.

No one could deny it.

The stranger stepped down from the ridge slowly.

No weapon drawn.

No aggressive qi.

Just controlled confidence.

The masked Hollow Vein cultivator spoke quietly for the first time since the man appeared.

"You shouldn't be here."

The stranger glanced at him.

"And yet you are."

A brief silence passed.

Xu Liang asked the question everyone was thinking.

"You understand the junction system."

The stranger's smile faded slightly.

"A little."

Instructor Han spoke next.

"Then you also know this is only a secondary branch."

The stranger nodded.

"Yes."

Senior Qiao crossed his arms.

"Then tell us something useful."

Another pause.

The stranger looked around the ravine once more.

Then he spoke.

"The central convergence point is waking up."

Instructor Han froze.

"What?"

"The network isn't dormant anymore," the man continued calmly.

"Something deeper in the system has begun circulating again."

Lin Xuan felt the fragment inside his dantian vibrate.

Not strongly.

But unmistakably.

The stranger's eyes shifted toward him again.

"You felt it too."

Not a question.

A statement.

Senior Qiao's voice turned sharp.

"Where is the convergence point?"

The stranger looked toward the deeper eastern forest.

Far beyond the ravine.

"Three days from here."

Silence settled across the group.

Because if that was true—

Then the nodes they had been studying were only the outer edges of something much larger.

And whatever was at the center…

Was beginning to move again.
