Chapter 33 - Page 33

"Haha, exactly, this is the 'Ninja Sword.' It's the prototype of the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze's sealing techniques. If you can infuse chakra into it and fully control the kunai, it proves you truly have the talent for sealing techniques," Jiraiya said with a satisfied nod. Teaching a clever student like this was easy.

Xia Li nodded. "I understand." The first step had been a test for him, but it was too simple, so he hadn't treated it as one.

"As for the Flying Thunder God technique in space, I can hardly teach you that, but I can teach you a lot about sealing techniques," Jiraiya added, his tone more modest. He admitted that his sealing techniques weren't as refined as some others, though certainly not ordinary.

Suddenly, Xia Li's eyes lit up. He nodded eagerly, but his mind began to wander.

"In other words, the 'Eternal Love Sword' is really just a simplified ultimate form. Actually, it doesn't have to be literally called the 'Eternal Love Sword,' it could be simplified further," Xia Li speculated.

"That's correct. But simplifying it further is extremely difficult. Perhaps it could instantly form a Flying Thunder God seal, but if simplified too much, the energy invested versus the gain would be severely unbalanced. That's why Minato never simplified it further," Jiraiya said, surprised at Xia Li, shaking his head to show he didn't recommend further simplification.

Xia Li's enthusiasm wasn't dampened. He understood Jiraiya's reasoning but thought of something else. "So, if the current Flying Thunder God seal is a simplified version by my senior, I could gradually enhance it while learning until I master it, then continue along my senior's simplified path…"

The more Xia Li spoke, the more feasible the idea seemed. Jiraiya listened and couldn't help but glance at him, thinking it made sense. This approach could let Xia Li's Flying Thunder God abilities advance rapidly.

At this point, Jiraiya perhaps realized that Xia Li's early mastery at such a young age was deeply tied to his intellect. Presumably, he had learned in other situations similarly efficiently.

"I think this idea is good, but it needs further verification. Later, I'll teach you Minato's experiences; it should help you," Jiraiya said.

"Thank you, sensei!" Xia Li was delighted, sighing with relief—this was the benefit of having a teacher!

In this scenario, as long as he learned sealing techniques and the Flying Thunder God, he could attempt the Flying Thunder God technique. Without a simplified seal, it might only allow fixed-point teleportation, but even that would be effective.

Chapter 60: Chakra Levels

Just as Xia Li was pleased, Jiraiya reminded him further.

"You have all the above talents. With your potential, learning Flying Thunder God isn't difficult. But you should also be aware that even after mastering it, it's not perfect. Using it requires sufficient reaction speed."

Though Jiraiya felt this reminder was early, who knew how long it would take this kid to master it? It was necessary to warn him.

"I understand," Xia Li said knowingly. Flying Thunder God meant instant movement. Not only must the opponent be unable to react, but the user must also react quickly. Otherwise, teleporting without preparation could be disastrous.

"By the way, Xia Li, do you have any questions during your training?" Jiraiya asked. Though he had taught some techniques, Flying Thunder God required Xia Li to guide himself.

Xia Li paused, thought for a moment, and his expression turned serious. He indeed had a long-standing question bothering him.

"Sensei, I want to know my chakra amount. I've always felt it's too low," Xia Li said. For a year, he had carefully used his chakra but often felt insufficient.

"Chakra amount?" Jiraiya studied him. "Based on your performance, your chakra isn't low. You should be at the genin level now."

"But it's still not enough. With limited chakra, I can't fully utilize my daily training," Xia Li said wryly.

Jiraiya nodded. Though Xia Li's chakra wasn't very high, considering his abilities, it was somewhat lacking—but manageable.

"Xia Li, you should know that chakra growth varies at different ages," Jiraiya said.

"I'm somewhat aware," Xia Li nodded, but still wanted confirmation. If a solution existed, it would be beneficial.

"Alright, let me explain in detail. After this, you should understand," Jiraiya said, energized. He sat cross-legged and began drawing on the ground, while Xia Li mirrored him, listening attentively.

"First, humans have physical and mental energy from birth. Theoretically, if a baby has learning awareness, they can refine chakra, but we don't recommend doing this too early. Chakra refinement starts at the next stage, around age six for most people."

"Some can reach it earlier, but not by much. Before six, almost all energy goes to growth. Forcing chakra refinement then consumes some growth energy, limiting chakra capacity."

Xia Li nodded. In fact, he had reached this stage before six, but hadn't learned chakra extraction yet, which he only mastered after starting school.

Jiraiya smiled at Xia Li's focus and continued.

"After six, total energy increases. But most still goes to physical development, leaving limited free energy for refining chakra. Xia Li, you're currently at this stage."

"So, I should be training often to increase chakra?" Jiraiya asked.

"Yes. But improving chakra is slow. Without lightning massage, it might take a semester or two to reach genin level," Xia Li replied.

"Exactly," Jiraiya nodded. "You've trained a lot, mostly improving physical ability. Chakra increase is minor, but the fact that you reach genin level shows your chakra isn't low."

Xia Li frowned and told Jiraiya about the lightning massage, which didn't need secrecy.

Jiraiya was shocked. Xia Li had really mastered this ability? But thinking about Xia Li's transformation techniques, it wasn't surprising. Only true geniuses with lightning affinity, like Xia Li or Kakashi, could do this—and at such a young age.

Few knew this method; Konoha didn't teach it, fearing students might misuse transformations. Improper use could injure themselves or even cause electrocution.

"Even so, your chakra won't decrease. At the next stage, your chakra will enter a rapid growth phase," Jiraiya said after contemplation.

"This stage happens around age twelve, right?" Xia Li sighed. Must he wait until twelve?

Jiraiya nodded, unsurprised. At this age, students are usually ready. Seeing Xia Li disappointed, he said seriously, "Xia Li, even if you feel your chakra is insufficient, never extract beyond your limit—it will seriously harm your body."

"I understand, sensei. That's why I haven't extracted it," Xia Li said.

"Yes," Jiraiya replied, knowing Xia Li was mature but still cautioning him.

Just as Xia Li felt disappointed, Jiraiya smiled. "Xia Li, while I can't increase your current chakra, there's a way for you to have more during rapid growth: measuring chakra."

Xia Li's disappointment vanished, replaced by curiosity.

Seeing Xia Li's interest, Jiraiya felt like a true teacher. Smiling proudly, he said, "Xia Li, have you heard of secret medicines?"

Chapter 61: Spiritual Contract

"Secret medicines?"

"Yes, something like that. Xia Li knows a lot," Jiraiya sighed.

"I saw some in a library book, including pills that enhance blood," Xia Li said.

Jiraiya glanced at Xia Li, wondering why he was so driven despite peace and no one forcing him. Effort is good, and he didn't ask further.

"These medicines aren't ordinary—they enhance the body's foundation, perfect for your age group," Jiraiya said.

Xia Li stared, hoping Jiraiya would produce them immediately.

Jiraiya scratched his head awkwardly. "But I don't have them here."

Xia Li felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured on him; his enthusiasm instantly vanished.

Though silent, Jiraiya read his disappointment in his eyes.

"Hehe, Xia Li, even if I don't have them now, you'll get what you want later. Just practice the next technique," Jiraiya said, taking out a scroll and unfolding another massive scroll.

Xia Li was shocked. If this scroll wasn't what he expected, it must be a spiritual power scroll from Mount Myoboku. Writing his name on it would form a spiritual contract with Mount Myoboku—one of the three sacred lands.

Xia Li realized the secret medicines mentioned might be those from Mount Myoboku.

Xia Li recalled the initial story of the Hokage and Jiraiya's past. Even if not as perfect as Naruto, being able to use Sage Mode proves Jiraiya's high chakra from a young age.

Jiraiya unfolded the scroll. Names beginning with "Toad" appeared. At the end, two blank spaces were labeled for Jiraiya and… Minato Namikaze.

"Xia Li, write your name here," Jiraiya instructed.

"Okay," Xia Li wrote his name.

Jiraiya then asked, "Do you know what this scroll is for?"

"The Toad Clan's spiritual contract," Xia Li answered.

"Yes. The secret medicines I mentioned are there. You should learn telepathy skills from your teacher soon," Jiraiya said.

"Alright," Xia Li agreed, realizing he could master the superpower in a few days.

"But that's enough for today," Jiraiya said, looking at the sky, realizing much time had passed.

"Okay, sensei," Xia Li responded, satisfied. The day had been full: Flying Thunder God, secret medicines, and the sacred land contract.

Even he would need time to digest it all.

In Konoha, Xia Li held a half-eaten popsicle, feeling conflicted. Memories of similar scenes surfaced—but this time, he was the main character.

"Why aren't you eating? Don't you like it?" Jiraiya asked.

"No, I just don't eat it often," Xia Li said, finally taking a bite. It was sweet and enjoyable.

"You kids usually like this," Jiraiya said, confused.

"Yes, but I spend most of my family's money on supplements, saving on unnecessary expenses," Xia Li explained.

"Oh, I see. Responsible child," Jiraiya sighed, thinking he should tell the Third Hokage later, at least ensuring Xia Li could afford meals.

Jiraiya didn't realize Xinai's salary could cover a normal family's needs, though Xia Li's enormous appetite from training made it tight.

Xia Li didn't answer. He intentionally wanted Xinai to eventually get a raise.

"By the way, I heard you and… never mind," Jiraiya hesitated, deciding not to ask about Naruto. He would observe from afar later.

Jiraiya's visit was brief. Once Xia Li's affairs were settled, he would continue his journey.

Xia Li didn't ask further. Could he tell Jiraiya what happened to Naruto? Jiraiya might want to take Naruto away, but would Konoha allow the Jinchuriki to leave?

Such actions could trigger conflict. Since the Third Hokage was Jiraiya's teacher, taking Naruto was unlikely. Even telling Jiraiya wouldn't solve the problem.

Would Naruto willingly leave with Jiraiya, whom he'd met only once? Probably not.

So Xia Li remained silent.

"Then we'll meet here tomorrow morning. Xia Li, go home now; it's late," Jiraiya said, handing a scroll to Xia Li to open at home.

Xia Li observed, thinking he'd learn these things in the future. Useful for life even if less so on the battlefield.

Xia Li said goodbye and left alone.

After watching Xia Li leave, Jiraiya slowly walked toward someone he wanted to see but hesitated, fearing they might not want to part.

Chapter 62: Jiraiya and Minato's Honor

Jiraiya quickly arrived at a secluded spot, watching a figure training. The golden hair reminded him of Minato, softening his gaze and bringing memories of Minato's life.

Seeing Naruto train hard, Jiraiya smiled. Minato had an excellent descendant.

After observing for a while, Jiraiya left. He had noticed ANBU lurking but said nothing. Even Kushina had ANBU with her when weaker—so it was normal for Naruto.

Jiraiya checked carefully and realized they were indeed ANBU under his teacher's command, feeling reassured.
