Chapter 10 - New Student

(A/N: Man, I love crepes.)

Matteo, Fushiguro, and Itadori were standing on a busy street as they waited for the final student at Jujutsu High.

Their distinctive student uniforms made them stand out from the crowd of people in plain clothes walking back and forth on the street.

However, Fushiguro was managing to blend in more than Itadori with his large red 'ROOK' sunglasses, strawberry crepe, and small bucket of popcorn.

'I can't believe he didn't get a crepe' Matteo thought while looking at Fushiguro and taking a bite of his own strawberry crepe.

There was only a single other person who got more eyes than Itadori, and that was Satoru Gojo, who stood behind the students with his blindfold and white hair. Many people who walked by Gojo stared at the blindfolded man wondering why.

"Why hello there, are you on the clock right now?" a man asked a woman who was walking by.

"No, not right now," she replied while continuing to walk.

"That's great!" the man replied, following the woman, "You see, I'm looking for potential models, that's what I do, would he be interested?" he asked.

"I'm in a hurry right now," the woman replied.

"Wait, just hear me out!" the man said.

However, the woman was not listening to the man as she continued on her way. With a sigh, the man accepted that he had lost this time.

"Hey, you," another woman said, grabbing the man by the shoulder, "What about me?" she asked.

Turning around, the man looked at the woman who grabbed him by the shoulder.

'He's freaking out!' Matteo thought with a smile, watching the man's face drop.

"Hey, I'm asking what you think about me," the woman asked again.

The woman had ginger hair with a standard Jujutsu High uniform on

"Oh, well, uh," the man said, stumbling over his words, "I'm in a hurry at the moment," he said, trying to walk away.

"What the hell!" the woman said, grabbing the man's shoulder again and pulling him back, "Don't run! Come out and say what you think!" she told the man.

"Wait, she's the one we have to go and talk to?" Itadori wondered aloud, "This is real embarrassing," he said.

"Yeah, so are you," Fushiguro pointed out, eyeing the crepe and popcorn.

"Nothing wrong with some good food," Matteo said while taking a bite from his crepe.

"Hey! We're over here!" Gojo then called out.

The new student finished locking her stuff up in a small locker. She was worried that some weird guy would steal her stuff.

So, she locked up her stuff with a password she made sure no one weirdos could see.

'8702' Matteo read from behind her shoulder, 'Wonder what that means' he thought.

"Right," Gojo said as the girl finished putting all of her stuff away, "I'd like you to meet," he began to say.

"Nobara Kugisaki," she introduced, "You should be honored, boys, I'm your group's only girl," she said.

"I'm Yuji Itadori, from Sendai," he introduced.

"Fushiguro," he stated.

"Matteo Unemi," he said holding his hand out.

Kugisaki refused to shake Matteo's hand; instead, she stared at the three other students in front of her.

'He looks like a potato, he's definitely the type that ate his own boogers as a kid' Kugisaki thought, looking at Itadori, 'Him, acting like we're already friends, he seems like he would talk about someone's personal secrets for a laugh' she thought, looking over at Matteo, 'And just his name? I can't stand high-and-mighty dudes' she concluded while looking at Fushiguro.

Kugisaki then let out a long sigh.

"This is what I get to work with?" Kugisaki asked, "Great, just my luck," she lamented.

"She took one look and sighed, that can't be good," Itadori said.

"Are we going somewhere from here?" Fushiguro asked.

"Well, we do have all four of you together," Gojo pointed out with a chuckle, "And sense three of you kids are from the countryside, that means we're going to Tokyo," he said.

"Tokyo! Tokyo! Tokyo!" everyone except for Fushiguro chanted.

"We love Tokyo!" Itadori and Kugisaki exclaimed.

"TDL! I want to go to TDL!" Kugisaki said.

"Idiot! TDL's in Chiba!" Itadori corrected, "Let's go to Chinatown instead!" he argues.

"Chinatown's in Yokohama dummy!" Kugisaki scolded.

"Well, Yokohama's part of Tokyo!" Itadori responded, "How do you not know that? Look at a map," he told Kugisaki.

"Tokyo! Tokyo!" Matteo said as he continued chanting.

"If you'll quiet down, I'll announce our destination," Gojo said, gaining the attention of the students.

Itadori and Kugisaki immediately stopped arguing and bent down on one knee to listen to Gojo.

"Roppongi!" Gojo exclaimed.

"Rop-pon-gi?" Itadori and Kugisaki asked each other.

And as the students talked, Fushiguro was silent as he made sure that no one could tell that he and those people went to the same school.

"There's a curse here," Fushiguro explained while looking at an old, decrepit building billowing out cursed energy near the outskirts of Roppongi.

"You liar!" both Itadori and Kugisaki said.

"This isn't Roppongi!" Itadori pointed out.

"It's a cruel move to toy with country folk!"Kugisaki cried out.

"Matteo!" Itadori said turning to his friend, "Did you know about this?" he asked.

"Of course I knew," Matteo replied.

"But why didn't you tell us?" Itadori asked.

"I can't believe you would lie with your own countryfolk!" Kugisaki accused.

"I wasn't lying, I just didn't tell the truth," Matteo explained.

"Close enough!" Kugisaki said, pointing at Matteo.

"There's a big cemetery nearby, that, plus an abandoned building, and you've got a curse," Gojo explained.

"So they pop up more often around graves?" Itadori asked as Kugisaki continued ranting to no one in particular.

"It's not the cemetery itself, it's the fact that people associate cemeteries with fear and uneasiness," Fushiguro explained.

"Right, it was the same for schools too, wasn't it?" Itadori wondered.

"Wait, hold up, he didn't even know that yet?" Kugisaki asked.

"To be honest, he swallowed Sukuna's Finger recently," Fushiguro explained

"He swallowed a special-grade cursed object?" Kugisaki exclaimed, "Gross! That's so unsanitary and disgusting, I just want to hurl!" she yelled out.

"That's not nice!" Itadori responded.

"I agree with her," Fushiguro added.

"She's right," Matteo added.

"I want to know what the four of you are capable of," Gojo told his students, "Just think of this as a kind of field test," he explained, "Nobara, Yuji, Mattteo, you go exercise the curse inside that building," Gojo told the students.

"Hold on, I thought only curses could exorcise other curses," Itadori asked, "I can't use jujutsu yet," he said.

"If you look at it, you're basically half curse already, cursed energy flows through your body," Gojo explained to Itadori, "Although controlling that energy isn't something you can learn overnight," he said while grabbing something from his pocket, "So use this," he said.

After explaining, Gojo handed over what looked like a butcher's knife in a leather holder.

"The Slaughter Demon, a weapon imbued with cursed energy, so it'll work on curses too," Gojo explained while handing Itadori the cursed weapon.

"Ugh, how lame," Kugisaki remarked.

Matteo, seeing that Itadori got his weapon, was excited about what he would get. Maybe he could get a cool staff, or a weapon like Itadori.

"And Matteo," Gojo said, putting a hand on Matteo's shoulder, "You got this," he said, giving Matteo a thumbs up.

"Wait, can't I get a weapon?" Matteo asked.

"I gave you something better than a weapon, reassurance from the Satoru Gojo," Gojo explained, continuing to give Matteo a thumbs up.

"Wait, hold on, are you joking?" Matteo wondered.

"Don't you know everything? You tell me," Gojo asked.

'He's not joking' Matteo realized.

He had to go into the building. He was a sorcerer now, but sticking with Itadori should be a good enough plan to keep him alive.

With the confidence that he wouldn't die, Matteo walked into the building to exercise some curses.
