Chapter 84 - Chapter 84 — Echoes of Victory

Dawn broke over Shadowfang territory, soft silver light spilling across the forest. The battle ridge, once a storm of chaos, was quiet now. Smoke rose in thin spirals from small fires where warriors had tended to the wounded, and the scent of blood had faded into the crisp morning air.

Nyra moved carefully among her pack, checking on the warriors and healers. Her silver aura pulsed faintly with lingering Blood Moon energy, but her steps were steady.

Kael walked beside her, golden energy dimmed to a warm glow, his arm brushing lightly against her shoulder. "Everyone survived," he murmured. "That's what matters."

Nyra nodded, watching young warriors helping each other to their feet, elders instructing the healers, and even the pups cautiously exploring the ridge. "Yes… but survival is just the start. Shadowfang needs stability now, not just strength."

By mid-morning, Fenrir and his Ashfang allies arrived, cautiously approaching the central clearing. Nyra and Kael met them at the edge, flanked by senior Shadowfang warriors.

Fenrir bowed slightly. "Shadowfang fought well. The northern council will remember this. They will think twice before challenging you again… at least for now."

Nyra's gaze was calm but resolute. "We will continue to strengthen our pack. Alliances are valuable, but Shadowfang cannot rely on others to protect what is ours."

Kael's golden eyes locked on Fenrir's. "We will remain vigilant. And we will not hesitate to defend our territory."

Fenrir inclined his head. "Then we have understanding… for now. But know this: greater forces stir beyond the mountains. You may have repelled one threat, but the world is not finished with you yet."

That evening, the pack gathered for a ceremony of remembrance and recovery. Fires were lit along the ridge, and each wounded warrior and fallen enemy was honored — a show of respect and a demonstration of unity.

Nyra stood in the center, Kael at her side. "Tonight, we honor those who fought, those who sacrificed, and those who will continue our legacy. Shadowfang is not just territory… it is blood, spirit, and loyalty. It is unbroken."

The pack howled in unison, a deep, resonant sound that echoed through the forest, carrying a clear message to any who might challenge them in the future.

Later, Nyra and Kael retreated to the cliff overlooking the valley. The Blood Moon hung low and steady, casting silver light over the healing pack.

Kael wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. "You did well," he said softly.

Nyra rested her head against his shoulder. "We did well. Together."

A distant howl echoed from beyond the valley — not hostile, but filled with warning. Nyra's silver eyes narrowed. "That sound… it isn't one of the northern packs."

Kael's jaw tightened. "Then someone new is coming. And Shadowfang will be ready."

Nyra clenched her fists, feeling the lingering warmth of ancestral spirits within her. "Let them come. We are Shadowfang. We survive. We protect. And we are unbroken."

Above them, the Blood Moon glimmered, steady and bright, a reminder of power, legacy, and the challenges still to come.
