Dinner went smoothly, with everyone having someone to keep them company at the table. Even Thea had found herself someone to talk to.
Both Laila and Thea were equally awkward around people, largely because of their snarky personalities and sharp tongues. Yet, perhaps it was precisely those similarities that allowed them to connect so easily. By the time dinner was over, the two were still chatting as though they had only just begun.
"Ah, Luke. Let me help..."
"No, it's fine." Luke assured her with a gentle smile. "Sit here and relax. I'll handle the cleanup."
Monica sighed but didn't argue further. She knew how stubbornly her mate refused help whenever he had made up his mind about something. Instead, she gave him a soft smile before turning her attention back to Roxanne.
