Chapter 52 - Chapter 51: Nightfall

Swallowing the food in his mouth, Tomioka Giyu asked with a smile, "Have you all had lunch yet?"

"And Tengen, my Junior Brother isn't weak, why are you chasing him away?"

Before Uzui Tengen could answer, Tanjiro quickly followed Tomioka Giyu's words, "That's right, Mr. Uzui! Inosuke and I can definitely help."

"And I believe Mr. Uzui's wives and Zenitsu are definitely fine!"

Tomioka Giyu leaped onto the rooftop, patted Uzui Tengen's shoulder, and said, "Don't worry, I've already investigated thoroughly."

"Daki is in Kyogoku House. It seems your wives and Zenitsu have been controlled by her and her Clones."

"Don't rush, it's not good to act during the day. Demons only come out at night."

After Tomioka Giyu finished speaking, the three had different expressions, and Uzui Tengen looked at Tomioka Giyu strangely.

Last night, he had actually gone to see Tomioka Giyu, but finding that fellow drinking, he didn't bother him.

'Did he investigate in the latter half of the night?' Uzui Tengen didn't understand, but at least there was hope.

At this moment, Inosuke shouted, "Huh? If we know where the demon is, why don't we go chop it down now?!"

Tomioka Giyu finished the last bit of daikon and salmon stew and patiently explained, "Although fighting during the day is advantageous for us, that's only if there are no other ordinary people present."

"Furthermore, if we can't end the battle with one strike, then there's only one possibility: alerting the enemy and letting the demon escape!"

Tomioka Giyu looked in the direction of Kyogoku House, his expression calm, and said faintly, "Tonight's plan is simple."

"You all go rescue people and get those ordinary people out first. Daki will be left to me."

"In this battle, slaying the Upper Rank is certainly the most important."

"But, saving more people should also be done with all our might."

At this point, Kochou Shinobu's image and her clear words inexplicably appeared in Tomioka Giyu's mind.

"To protect the happiness of others that has not yet been destroyed..."

Inosuke was the first to refuse, "What? I, the great me, also want to fight demons!!"

Tomioka Giyu rubbed his temples, somewhat helplessly saying, "My previous explanation was truly all for naught."

"Do you think rescuing people is that easy? Daki's Clones will be enough to keep you busy for a while."

Uzui Tengen had been pondering whether it was feasible, but the safety of his wives still took precedence.

"Alright Tomioka, I'm counting on you. I'll come to support you as soon as possible!"

"Hmm, no need to rush too much."

Tomioka Giyu, however, seemed not too concerned. He might not last a whole night, but a few hours would be no problem.

With his current strength, he had that confidence.

Immediately after, Uzui Tengen looked at the two behind him and said,

"Tanjiro, after nightfall, no matter what method you use, you must try your best to lead the ordinary people near Kyogoku House away."

"At first, you can be a bit discreet to avoid alerting the enemy."

"But once Tomioka's fight begins, you must shout desperately to drive those people out of the Flower District!"

"Fighting Upper Rank Six is no joke; the entire Flower District could be their battlefield."

Tanjiro had no objections to this, nodding in response, "Okay, Mr. Uzui!"

Then, Uzui Tengen shifted his gaze to Inosuke, but this fellow gave him a headache.

However, Inosuke spoke first.

"I'm not going to save people! I found traces of a demon in Ogimotoya just now, but someone messed it up and it got away!"

"When night comes, I'll definitely drag it out!"

Uzui Tengen stroked his chin and replied, "Very good, act according to your own ideas after nightfall."

"I need to gather some more information!"

With that, Uzui Tengen flashed away, leaving only Tomioka Giyu and the other two on the rooftop.

Tomioka Giyu waved his hand and said, "You all chat slowly, I have something to do, so I'll be leaving first."

Seeing Tomioka Giyu leave, Tanjiro still couldn't help but say with concern,

"Hmm, please be careful tonight, Giyu Senior Brother!"

Tanjiro knew his Senior Brother was strong, but he was still very worried, fearing that something might happen to Tomioka Giyu.

"It's alright, Tanjiro, don't worry."

Watching Tomioka Giyu's receding figure, Tanjiro secretly swore that he would go support his Senior Brother as soon as possible tonight!

Returning to his room at the tavern, Tomioka Giyu took a bath, lay on the bed, and immediately fell asleep.

He needed to get enough rest to prepare for tonight's battle.

As for this room, because of the signed agreement, it was his forever.

Time passed quickly. The sun had just set, and Tomioka Giyu had already finished getting ready.

Looking at himself in the mirror, Tomioka Giyu murmured, "It's finally coming, huh..."

"Tanjiro, awaken your demon slayer mark quickly."

At the same time, Tanjiro in Tokito House was fully prepared, carrying his sister to say goodbye.

"Forgive my rudeness, I'm leaving Tokito House. Could you please give my food expenses and such to the owner?"

"Thank you, Young Miss Koiharu."

Saying this, Tanjiro took out an envelope from his pocket and placed it on the tatami mat.

But Koiharu's focus was not on that.

"Ko-tan, your outfit is..."

Tanjiro earnestly explained, "Before, for some reason, I dressed up as a girl, but I'm actually a boy!"

However, the embarrassing thing was that Koiharu wasn't asking that question because she had already figured it out.

"Uh, I know. It's obvious at a glance, and your voice too..."

"Eh?" Tanjiro looked bewildered. He had thought his disguise was very good.

"I mean, I knew you were a boy from the start."

"Although I wondered what you were doing here, you must have had a reason, right?"

"Did something happen? Are you really worried about Suma?"

Hearing Koiharu's question, Tanjiro immediately affirmed,

"Yes, of course! I'm not lying! I will definitely rescue the missing people!"

Koiharu was stunned for a few seconds, then gently said, "Thank you. That puts me a little at ease."

"I... I'm leaving this district tomorrow."

Tanjiro showed a happy smile. He was genuinely happy for Koiharu.

"Really? That's wonderful!!"

"Someone is actually willing to marry someone like me. I'm truly happy now."

"But..."

Koiharu's tone also conveyed happiness, but when she thought of the other people in the shop, her eyes filled with worry again.

"Precisely because of this, I'm even more worried about everyone remaining here."

"Even if something suspicious happens, I have no way to investigate..."

Tanjiro quickly spoke to comfort her, "That can't be helped, please don't worry about it! I hope you can keep smiling."
