Chapter 43 - 43

Tundra flew toward the next planet.

This one seemed… normal.

That alone made him uneasy.

None of the other worlds had been normal city planets, so why would this one be?

With a quiet sigh, Tundra landed on one of the streets and began walking toward the source of the dark ki while observing the surroundings.

The residents were unusual but not monstrous.

They had single eyes, black hair, and reddish complexions.

One of them—a woman leaning casually against a wall—took a drag from her cigarette as he passed. She watched him for a moment before jogging up beside him.

"Hey, big guy," she said with a grin. "Wanna come back to my place?"

Tundra looked down at her without slowing his pace.

"Why?"

The woman stared at him, dumbfounded.

She thought she had been pretty clear.

With an annoyed sigh she gestured vaguely at his body.

"I… you know… you could show me what else is big, right?"

Then she squinted at him more carefully.

"You're not a woman, right?"

It finally clicked for Tundra.

Frankly, he didn't even have the brain for this sort of thing.

"My kind is asexual," he replied flatly. "So you could technically say I'm a woman even if I have this form."

The woman groaned in disappointment.

"Fuck. Alright. Bye."

She immediately lost interest and walked away. No point wasting time on someone she couldn't get anything from.

Tundra watched her go.

It was strange.

He didn't really understand why anyone became a prostitute. Sure, people said it felt good, but it couldn't possibly pay well enough to justify it as a job.

Tundra sighed.

Some things he would simply never understand.

Without another thought, he flew off toward the dark ki.

Not even a second later he arrived.

A massive mansion stood before him.

Tundra landed in front of the door and stepped inside, ducking slightly under the frame.

The building was silent.

No one greeted him.

With a sigh, he walked toward the staircase. The source of the dark ki was clearly on the second floor.

He climbed the stairs and approached the room where the power originated.

Then he opened the door.

Inside was a bedroom.

Two people lay on the bed.

They were completely unclothed and tangled together.

They looked like the other residents he had seen earlier—except the woman had a six-star Dragon Ball embedded in her stomach, surrounded by shards of the first four.

She lazily turned her head toward him.

"So…" she said casually, "you just gonna stand there, or do you wanna join?"

In truth, she knew he wouldn't.

She had been observing him through the population earlier and had seen his conversation with the prostitute. She only needed to stall for a moment.

Behind him, unseen, a massive golem of dark ki was forming.

Tundra frowned.

"Neither. I'm here to kill you."

The woman lazily pointed a finger toward him.

In reality, the gesture was directing power into the golem forming behind him.

"Really?" she said lightly. "Come on, let's talk a little. Like why you're killing us."

"You're nuisances," Tundra replied calmly. "And dangers to my empire."

She chuckled.

"Oh really? But I haven't done anything outside this planet. Neither had the others."

She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead.

"So I don't exactly see how we're threats."

Behind Tundra, the golem was nearly complete.

Tundra sighed.

"That doesn't erase the potential danger. My empire will eventually explore these worlds."

The woman nodded thoughtfully.

"Fair, fair."

Then she smiled.

"Well how about this… you leave me alone…"

"…and in exchange…"

"…you die."

Before Tundra could react—

A spear suddenly pierced straight through his neck.

For a moment he stood there in shock.

The spear was pulled back out as the woman laughed.

"Well? Regret not getting to the point now?"

Tundra grunted as the wound rapidly regenerated.

He ducked just as the golem thrust again.

Grabbing the spear, he yanked it forward and slammed his horns straight through the golem's chest.

The woman let out an exaggerated gasp.

"Oh no. If only it could regenerate."

She snapped her fingers.

The golem surged with renewed strength, ripping the spear free and slamming it down through Tundra's shoulder.

Tundra's ki exploded outward in a violent surge.

The spear shattered.

Chunks of the golem's body blew apart.

"Oh no," she repeated dryly.

Another snap of her fingers.

The golem regenerated instantly, spear included.

Tundra coated his arm in ki and hammered down on the creature's shoulder before turning and rushing straight for the woman.

Her eyes widened.

She snapped her fingers again.

Tundra stumbled for a split second.

That moment was enough.

The golem regenerated behind him and drove its spear through his side, trying to throw him away.

Tundra didn't move.

His ki locked his body in place against the force.

He grabbed the spear and shattered it again.

Then he reached for the woman.

"Wait!" she shouted.

"I'll make it worth your while if you spare me!"

"I'm good at anything—I could even clean your entire spacecraft, please!"

Tundra didn't hesitate.

Someone this close to him should never have the power to injure him—especially if they would only grow stronger.

He grabbed her head.

Heat built rapidly in his hand.

Her brain fried instantly.

Yet her body still struggled.

So Tundra crushed her skull completely and ripped the Dragon Ball from her body.

Behind him, the golem collapsed into rubble.

The Dragon Ball shattered.

Along with the remaining shards.

Two fragments shot off in different directions across space.

Tundra barely paid attention.

Behind him, the man on the bed suddenly looked around in confusion.

"Where the hell am I?"

Then he saw Tundra standing over a headless corpse.

He gulped.

The last thing he remembered was meeting a strange girl with an orb in her stomach.

He muttered to himself quietly.

"This is why you don't pick up just any prostitute…"

"…fucking hell."

He looked back at Tundra.

"Thanks, kind stranger."

Honestly, death wasn't anything unusual on this planet.

Neither were sex-related crimes.

The place was a complete shithole.

And someday he hoped he'd get out of it.
