Chapter 1 - I encountered my Oshi!

The game I played all the time in my previous life was called "Utopia of the Fallen."

It is in that world, that I reincarnated as a monster.

The game depicts the battle between humanity, or rather, people called Guardians, and monsters. Guardians are people who, through some kind of factor, have acquired superhuman powers. And monsters are creatures without a sense of self. They are beings created by the evil god Farkas that behave in a hostile manner towards humanity.

Monsters have something called a "magic core" and can only be killed by destroying the magic core. Furthermore, a unique feature of monsters is that the magic core can only be destroyed with the power of Guardians.

As an added cruelty, the power of the Guardians only manifests in young men and women.

The main story revolves around these guardians fighting to protect the boundary between the human and monster living spaces. It depicts the guardians fighting 24/7 for the survival of humanity, and frankly, is quite heavy and dark.

When I was first reincarnated, I thought I'd side with the characters in the game and do my best using my knowledge of the original work! But if I, a monster, were to sneak in, I'd probably be killed.

I look completely inhuman. I can't even speak.

Imagine a monster approaching the human's town. I'd be crushed instantly.

I currently live quietly in the demon lands, a living space for monsters.

This was originally a village, and although it is located close to the human habitat, it is also an area where no humans remain, just ruins.

I am grateful for the opportunity to live a civilized life. Living like an animal, exposed to the elements, would hurt my pride as a human.

As a monster, I don't need to eat or sleep. If you ask me what powers me, it's the magical elements in the air. I use my magic core to convert the magical elements in the air into energy.

I'm a pretty eco-friendly life form!

And there is no limit to the amount of magic energy in the air. Therefore, monsters have no lifespan, they cannot die unless they are killed. This is a very threatening factor for humans. After all, the only way to reduce their numbers is the Guardians, and in the case of monsters that have reproductive functions, their numbers will increase over time. It seems to be nothing but a nightmare.

I've seen a lot of the original characters suffer in my previous life when playing the game. But there's nothing I can do now. At the very least, I'll live my life trying not to kill anyone, and not to be killed.

By the way, my current appearance is that of a legless humanoid entity wearing an old robe. Since I have no legs, I'm constantly floating. There's nothing underneath the robe, but that doesn't mean I'm naked. In fact, the parts of my body that are exposed from the robe are all a foggy darkness. I can't even tell what's there.

My face is hidden by a hood, but as with everywhere else, there is only darkness. However, there are two red dots in the darkness, placed where there should be eyes.

I has no hands, they're all hidden under my robes, but from what I've seen it's just more of that darkness, but I can grab things.

When I played the game in my previous life, I never saw such a monster. I don't even know what their species name is.

However, despite its eerie appearance, it has recovery abilities. It can heal living things.

I can also fight to a certain extent.

…No … In reality, I have a suspicion that I'm several times stronger than the average monsters around here.

Well, today I decided to go for my daily walk as usual. I have free time.

Although I called it "walking," it's just floating around.

Well, it doesn't matter.

When you hear "Demon lands" you might get a frightening image in your mind, but frankly, that's not the case. The light of the sun... I don't know if that's what it's called here, but at least the light of the stars shines on the earth, and the moon also appears at night.

Because the demon lands are untouched by humans for a long time, the area is rich in nature. The greenery is so beautiful that it is soothing to look at, and if you go a little further from my house, you will find flower fields.

Originally, according to the game, there was no territory called the Demon World. It was simply an area where monsters were born and humans couldn't survive.

While taking my daily walk, I see monsters around everywhere.

There are dog-like four-legged monsters, orcs, goblins, and headless creatures in Western armor.

Since I'm also a monster, I won't be attacked by them.

I was floating along my usual walking route with the I traces of old human activity scattered here and there: destroyed houses and churches, and burnt stone walls.

There's nothing I can do about it.

Being immortal is fine, but in this world that has no entertainment and a body that doesn't even need to eat, the memories of living as a human get in the way. I can't help but feel like I'm just wasting my time.

I'm doing research on my abilities, but it's still so painful to have nothing else to do.

With that thought in mind, I arrived at my usual flower field. For some reason, there is a barrier here that keeps monsters away. This space, where there are no monsters and I can admire the flowers, has become a soothing spot for me.

I don't know why the barrier was set up, but I think it was put up by the people who originally lived here. It may have been an important place.

Colorful flowers and butterflies. Just looking at them makes me feel less empty.

Before I could even think about it, I noticed something lying in the center of the flower garden.

...A human? No, but I don't think a human could come here. But it's definitely not a monster.

I should get closer and check it out.

Thinking this, I went closer and saw that it was a girl! She looked to be in her late teens.

No, more than that.

...…It's my Oshi!?

I know this girl! She's Noah Gran from the game I played in my previous life!

She's my Oshi! My Oshi!

Huh, what should I do? Why is she collapsed in a place like this? Was there an event in the original where he visited the demon realm alone...?

Yes, there was.

Before the start of the original, there was an episode where she got lost in the demon realm but managed to return on her own.

They said it was unprecedented for a mere amateur to go into the demon realm alone, awaken to the power of a guardian, and manage to return to the human lands alive.

So is it better to just leave her alone?

...No, I can't just abandon a girl who has collapsed!

I don't want to see my Oshi suffer, so I'll just take her back until she wakes up.

Even if I am killed, I have no regrets about this life.

If I am killed by my Oshi, I will even be happy.
