The news that Zoe Pierce's baby was a girl reached Miles Sherman and the others almost instantly. Her three sons also found out they might soon have a little sister.
"Mom, my sister's kicking really hard. Does it hurt?" Evan Pierce asked, his face tense as he stared nervously at Zoe Pierce's stomach.
At over seven months pregnant, her belly had swollen into a round ball.
The baby was moving just then. As soon as Evan Pierce's hand touched Zoe's stomach, he saw a small, round shape protrude from it.
The sudden bulge startled Evan.
Zoe Pierce smiled. "It's not so bad. Your sister is just a little active. It doesn't really hurt."
"You used to be just like this in Mommy's tummy, saying hello to your parents."
Evan Pierce looked at Zoe in surprise, finding it hard to believe. "Was I really that strong?"
The bulge was a good five or six centimeters high. It was impossible to imagine what position the baby was in to cause it.
