Deep within an ancient tomb in the remote, uninhabited mountains of the northwest, Bei Mingyuan and his two servants were exceptionally busy.
The ancient tomb was formed by hollowing out the entire belly of a mountain. It was incredibly ancient, far older than any other tomb complex discovered to date. The vast, empty stone chamber where Bei Mingyuan usually stayed was merely his "office," so to speak, located on the lowest level—the hellish eighteenth floor—closest to the mountain's base. The exit of the "fire road" was also typically located here. Above it, seventeen other levels served various purposes. It was worth noting that despite being so deep within the mountain, the chamber was neither damp nor dark; a faint breeze even seemed to flow through it. The light emanating from giant, red characters illuminated the entire space.
