That evening, at Sylvia Brooks's house.
After showering, the friends sat cross-legged on the soft carpet, chatting and sipping red wine.
"Zachary Conway confessed to me," Michelle Fuller said, gently swirling her wine glass. "Well, that's not quite right. After Renee called me, I just went and asked him if he liked me."
"Michelle, you're so direct!" Sylvia Brooks exclaimed, unable to hide her surprise.
Michelle Fuller raised a hand to scratch her cheek and gave a bashful laugh. "Hehe, I don't know what made me so bold back then."
"And then what?" Renee Jennings's eyes sparkled as she looked at her, raising her glass to clink it against Michelle's.
"And then Zachary Conway confessed..." Michelle Fuller's brow furrowed in conflict. "I didn't turn him down. I just said I needed some time to think."
Sylvia Brooks nodded and asked softly, "So, how do you feel about Zachary Conway?"
Michelle Fuller replied, "I think... he's kind of cute."
