A mischievous smile played on Chen Yansen's lips as he plopped down heavily beside Meng Jie, causing the soft mattress to sink instantly.
Meng Jie shot to her feet as if she'd been scalded.
"W-what are you trying to do?"
Meng Jie's voice trembled as she stammered, her hands pressed firmly against Chen Yansen's chest. She subtly shifted her feet, preparing to bolt at a moment's notice.
"I just want to... get a good look at you. Don't be nervous."
Chen Yansen raised his hands and slowly rested them on Meng Jie's waist. He made no further moves. Just as he'd said, he simply gazed at her with a gentle smile.
Meng Jie looked back at him. They were mere inches apart; she could clearly see her own reflection in his eyes.
The warmth of his breath brushed against the tip of her nose.
'Meng Jie, are you really not going to repeat the year? All because of Chen Yansen?'
'He's definitely handsome. You can't let him get away.'
