Looking at her reaction, Zoe Sawyer knew it was a sure thing. Shirley knew the name. They might even be able to squeeze some more information out of her.
"Don't worry about that for now. Just tell us who Preston Quinn is," Heath Hale said, sidestepping Shirley's question.
A trace of fear crossed Shirley's face as if she had recalled something terrifying. However, after seeing Zoe and Heath's resolute expressions, she swallowed hard and said, "Although I was the first to be captured, Preston Quinn was the first patient to die at his hands.
"He was tortured brutally. There wasn't a single patch of intact skin left on his body. After the man died, Dr. Jennings knew he had gone overboard. He found a place to bury him, and then he learned to hold back with the rest of us."
Perhaps Preston Quinn's death was so gruesome that even Dr. Jennings had nightmares for days after disposing of the body. He restrained his behavior afterward, and a similar incident never happened again.
