Chapter 70 - Thunder Princess’ Conqueror’s Haki Blasts Katakuri Away

"What kind of hellish weapon is that?! Could it be the legendary laser cannon?!"

"This power… it's basically on the same level as that monster Kizaru!"

The pirates of Totto Land stared at the flying vessels in the sky in sheer terror, their eyes filled with disbelief.

"Keep firing! Don't stop!"

Seeing the devastating effect of the first volley, Robin nodded in satisfaction and coldly issued the next order.

For this war—and for the future struggle for supremacy—the battleships' energy reserves had been prepared to an absurd degree.

As one cannon after another lit up again with that deathly blue glow, panic finally spread through the Charlotte Family members who had initially remained calm.

With grim expressions, they leapt into the air, activating their Devil Fruit abilities at full power, trying to construct layers of defenses.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The terrifying electromagnetic cannons, even without Haki reinforcement, forcibly blasted apart layer upon layer of stacked biscuit shields.

Only when the beams collided with high-intensity Armament Haki did they finally detonate midair.

Charlotte Counter, the seventh son of the Charlotte Family—known for his Armament Haki and physical prowess—relied on his tough body and actually tried to punch a beam head-on with his right fist.

The moment of contact, however, he was blown away by the massive explosion, the muscles in his arm tearing apart as blood sprayed everywhere.

This was the price of having one's Armament defense completely pierced.

And of course, the beam he faced wasn't some mass-produced standard shot.

On one of the airships, Baby 5 had a lollipop in her mouth and a tactical visor over her nose.

Her right arm had already transformed into an exaggeratedly large cannon, and she was grinning excitedly as she aimed at her prey below.

With the outbreak of war, the climate of this sea area had fallen into complete chaos.

The ocean was shrouded in white mist and smoke left behind by the electromagnetic bombardment, making visibility worse and worse.

"This is a massive payday! An Emperor-level naval war! Both sides are showing their trump cards—this is absolutely explosive news that'll make the whole world boil!"

High up in the distant sky, a hot-air balloon drifted with the wind.

That big news bird Morgans, using his vantage point and high-definition projection equipment, was broadcasting this earth-shaking war live to the entire world.

"Y-you've got to be kidding me…"

"Did Wano put all their tech points into the wrong tree?! They've already mass-produced and deployed laser weapons like this?!"

Far away at the Sabaody Archipelago, the massive broadcast screens were surrounded so tightly that not a drop of water could get through.

Shocked cries erupted from the crowd, no one daring to believe what they were seeing.

Meanwhile, aboard a Marine warship speeding toward the New World battlefield—

As the highest combat power of the Marines cooperating with the Five Elders' plan, "Kizaru" Borsalino listened to the report coming from the Den Den Mushi and couldn't help smacking his lips.

"This era really has gone mad…"

What was even crazier was that the World Government had ordered the Marines to help that Flying General.

Borsalino stood lazily at the bow. He had already bribed Morgans to ensure that the Marines' movements wouldn't appear in the live broadcast.

This sea area had already been cleared out—by all logic, the route should have been completely unobstructed.

But suddenly, a flash of reflection crossed Borsalino's sunglasses, as if he had caught sight of something.

Almost at the same time, the once-calm sea erupted into fierce winds. Layer upon layer of thick fog surged up unnaturally, blocking the warship's path.

"Is it just another bout of this damned New World weather?"

Vice Admiral Dawson, standing nearby, frowned and complained.

"I'd rather it be weather," Borsalino replied lightly. "Bad weather is still much easier to deal with than troublesome monsters… don't you think, Dragon?"

Borsalino raised his index finger, golden light gathering at its tip. A crosshair instantly locked onto the gun turret of a nearby escort ship.

Dawson was horrified. Following the light, he broke out in a cold sweat and instinctively used Soru to retreat backward.

At some point, a man had appeared standing on that turret—and he hadn't noticed him at all!

Shooo—!

A laser beam shot out from Borsalino's fingertip.

Yet just as it was about to hit, an invisible gale suddenly exploded outward.

The beam was forcibly deflected, plunging into the sea and kicking up waves several meters high.

"How scary… as expected of the Revolutionary Army's rapidly rising leader. But I do have official business—could you please make way?"

The moment Borsalino finished speaking, Dragon swung both arms forcefully.

The surrounding storm seemed to receive an order and instantly went berserk.

Ferocious winds stir up vast amounts of seawater, wildly compressing it in midair until a terrifying waterspout connecting sea and sky took shape.

This was Dragon's answer.

His expression was calm, but his voice pierced through the storm:

"Let's have a talk, Borsalino."

Before his words even fell—

A terrifying pressure erupted.

Conqueror's Haki!

A kingly aura that dominated all beneath it instantly enveloped the entire warship.

Vice Admiral Dawson, who bore the brunt of it, didn't even have a chance to resist—his eyes rolled back and he collapsed unconscious on the spot.

In less than a minute, the only person still standing and conscious on the entire ship was Borsalino himself.

"You've really become more frightening… no wonder you were the strongest of that generation of monsters."

The lazy expression on Borsalino's face finally faded a little.

He looked at Dragon, the light at his fingertip dispersing, and surprisingly made no move to attack again.

...

The scene shifted back to the blazing main battlefield.

Fast! Precise! Ruthless!

These three words perfectly captured the terror of the electromagnetic cannons.

On Totto Land's attempt to charge forward using sheer numbers, beams of light swept through like the Grim Reaper's scythe, mercilessly tearing open their lines.

Just after having his wounds bandaged by medics, Counter roared through gritted teeth:

"There are special snipers up there! That beam just now actually had Haki mixed into it!"

"No time to worry about that! Prepare to abandon ship—full speed ahead into boarding combat! Only close-quarters fighting can limit their energy weapons!"

"Cracker! Stop holding back—create more biscuit soldiers! You have to block those damned beams!"

As the strategist, Perospero immediately began shouting hoarsely, directing the battle.

The instant the orders went out, every bit of combat power began operating at full throttle.

Cracker clapped his hands wildly. With crisp cracking sounds, one rock-hard biscuit soldier after another condensed out of thin air, forming thick shield walls in the air.

Seeing this, Robin immediately gave orders through the Den Den Mushi:

"Just as expected—the enemy is going to force a breakthrough. Everyone prepare for close combat!"

Such a charge was ferocious—but it played right into Wano's hands.

It was far more favorable for them to split, encircle, and annihilate the enemy's effective forces.

At last, the main forces of both sides collided.

Countless pirates raised sabers and muskets, eyes bloodshot as they charged at the oncoming Wano samurai.

"We've got the numbers! What's there to be afraid of?! Follow the ministers—tear apart their defenses!"

"Hehehe! We've been taking hits without fighting back this whole time—been holding it in forever! Let these country bumpkins see what New World pirates are made of!"

Tens of thousands of troops, like two massive torrents, smashed violently into each other across the sea.

Gangplanks were thrown between ships, instantly turning them into meat grinders.

Gunfire, battle cries, and the clash of steel resounded through the heavens.

In the dense formations, people fell into pools of blood every second.

The cruelty of war was laid bare at this moment—but no one stopped moving.

Especially the samurai of Wano, whose convictions burned far stronger than those of the Totto Land pirates.

"For the General's victory!"

Frenzied roars rose one after another.

Wano's follow-up elites poured continuously into the battlefield—each one a killing machine forged through strict militarized training.

Aside from Totto Land's cadres and elite pirates who could use Haki, the rest of the ordinary soldiers were nothing more than wheat waiting to be harvested.

For a time, the battlefield showed an eerie, one-sided trend.

Numbers did not equal strength.

Though Totto Land had more troops, in front of Wano's elites they were nothing but cannon fodder delivering themselves to death.

As for the Charlotte Family's core officers, they were all locked down one by one by Wano's trump cards and reserve forces, completely unable to spare a hand to support others.

For Totto Land, which relied on numerical advantage, this was a fatal war of attrition.

Crackle—bang—!

Suddenly, a dazzling blue bolt of lightning tore across the sky, bathing the entire sea in an eerie azure glow.

The lightning condensed to an extreme—then violently exploded.

A blue-and-white figure, carrying world-shattering momentum, smashed into the heart of Totto Land's army like a meteor.

BOOM!

Wild electric currents burst outward. Before countless pirates could even react, they were scorched black by the residual lightning and sent flying like kites with broken strings.

"That's… the Oniwabanshu's 'Thunder Princess'!!!"

"Don't mind her! Keep charging!"

Normally taciturn, Katakuri now let out a rare, anxious roar.

He leapt upward, terrifying power gathering in his arm, and threw a punch straight at the lightning-wreathed figure.

Lightning flared around Yamato. Facing the leader of the Sweet Commanders, she showed not the slightest retreat—her battle intent only grew stronger.

Thunder Bagua!!!

In an instant—

Suffocating Conqueror's Haki erupted.

It wasn't just lightning, but a soul-level pressure.

Black-red lightning wrapped around the kanabo and slammed violently into Katakuri's fist!

"Bzzzz—"

At the moment of contact, Katakuri's expression changed drastically as he immediately unleashed his own Conqueror's Haki to counter it.

Boom… boom…

Two tangible spheres of Haki—one black, one crimson—collided and crushed against each other in midair.

"A Conqueror's clash?!"

The surrounding fighters were horrified, blown away by the shockwaves.

Crash—!

The already-turbulent sea went completely berserk.

Under the pressure of their Haki, the water itself seemed to recoil in fear, forcibly retreating outward and exposing the seabed below.

The sky darkened, winds and clouds changing color.

Howwwl… crack… crack…

Raging hurricanes tore through the air, as if the end of the world had arrived.

This earth-shaking collision felt like it lasted an eternity—yet also like only a fleeting instant.

Finally, the two overwhelming auras decided a winner.

Yamato's far more violent Conqueror's coating clearly took the upper hand.

BOOM!

With a thunderous blast, Katakuri—despite blocking with all his might—was still blasted away like a cannonball.

His body smashed back into Totto Land's flagship, punching straight through the thick deck and leaving behind a horrifying crater.

"Brother Katakuri!"

Seeing Katakuri lying motionless in the wreckage, countless Charlotte Family members let out despairing cries.

This wasn't just a defeat—it was the collapse of faith.

He was the most perfect, most powerful existence in their hearts aside from Mother herself!

The man whose back had never touched the ground… had been blasted away head-on?!

"How is that possible?!"

Charlotte Oven's eyes nearly split with rage, fury blazing from his gaze.

"Oven! Calm down! Don't act rashly!"

Perospero shouted desperately.

But Oven, already seeing red, couldn't hear anything. He forcibly changed direction, his naginata igniting in raging flames as he slashed toward Yamato in midair.

Yamato raised an eyebrow slightly, disdain flashing in her eyes.

Crackle!

Lightning flared as her figure vanished instantly.

The next second, she appeared directly above Oven, her kanabo wrapped in thunder and crashing down!

Sizzle!

The terrifying lightning instantly devoured Oven's proud flames.

Under a Conqueror's-coated blow, Oven's Armament Haki was as fragile as paper, shattering in an instant.

A violent shockwave exploded outward, forming a massive conical blast.

Before Oven could even fall from the air, Yamato gripped her club with both hands and followed up with another vicious strike straight into his chest.

This blow wasn't just physical—it was advanced internal-destruction Haki.

PFFFT!

Oven spewed a mouthful of blood, eyes rolling back as his consciousness instantly blanked out. His body went limp like a sack of mud.

"Oven!"

Katakuri, who had just barely caught his breath, tried to rush in to rescue him—

But the moment he moved, his body instinctively turned into flowing mochi, narrowly avoiding several silent, razor-sharp sword flashes.

Reforming his body, Katakuri's face darkened to the point it could drip water.

He stared fixedly at the woman who had appeared before him—another Oniwabanshu ace.

"What sharp instincts. As expected of the man who trained his Observation Haki to the point of seeing the future."

At some unknown moment, Gion had already appeared behind the Totto Land fleet.

She gently stroked the famed blade Konpira, smiling beautifully—her eyes icy cold.

"But I'm very curious. That future you see… can your body really keep up with it?"

Shh!

Before her words finished, her figure vanished.

Only afterimages remained as she slashed toward Katakuri at a speed the naked eye couldn't possibly track.

The strike looked simple—but it was unimaginably fast.

Katakuri had already foreseen the trajectory through future sight, his body splitting and deforming in advance to dodge.

Yet the instant his body separated, searing pain struck.

Even though he saw it coming.

Even though he dodged early.

The razor-sharp sword aura still carved several bone-deep wounds into his body.

So fast!

No—this wasn't just speed!

It was an eerie acceleration! One moment she was there—the next, the attack had already crossed space itself!

This was a Devil Fruit ability!

He couldn't let her take the initiative!

Katakuri made a snap judgment.

His arm instantly transformed into countless ribbon-like mochi strips, coated in jet-black Armament Haki.

The next second, innumerable python-like mochi tendrils blasted toward Gion, sealing off every possible escape route.

"Grilled Mochi—Rapid Fire!"

Soru!

Gion pushed off the ground. Rokushiki combined with her fruit's instantaneous acceleration turned her into a streak of light.

The countless mochi punches slammed down—only to smash empty afterimages.

At the same time, cold flashes of steel flickered in midair.

Those iron-hard mochi tendrils were severed cleanly at the root in an instant.

A chill pierced Katakuri's bones. Before he could react, Gion had already flashed in front of him.

Konpira slashed down, carving a long bloody gash across his Armament-coated arm.

"So your Armament Haki is stronger than the intel suggests, not just your Observation."

That relaxed figure darted through a sea of afterimages, her voice drifting unpredictably.

"Mochi… domain!"

Gritting his teeth through the pain, Katakuri unleashed his Devil Fruit awakening.

The deck beneath his feet—and everything around him—instantly assimilated into a white ocean of mochi, attempting to restrain her speed with wide-area attacks.

But deep inside, a profound sense of helplessness had already risen.

He could see it coming—but he couldn't stop it.

That limit-breaking speed, combined with Great Swordsman–level attack power.

The Gion before him was even more troublesome than Yamato, the lightning-wielder, from moments earlier.

As Totto Land's pillar, he was being nailed in place—unable to support others, barely able even to protect himself.

Cold sweat slid down Katakuri's temple.

They had already overestimated their enemy as much as possible—

Yet Wano's elite combat power still far exceeded their worst expectations.

For now, they could barely hold the line with sheer numbers.

But one look at the shocking pools of blood staining the deck told the truth—the scales had long since tipped.

This was a one-sided massacre, so brutal it was hard to watch.

If Kaido's support didn't arrive soon, Totto Land's main force would completely collapse before Mother and Tenma's duel even reached a conclusion.

Unknowingly, this savage boarding battle had already raged for half an hour.

Both sides were blood-drunk, the sounds of slaughter shaking the sky. Any formation that had barely been maintained earlier had long since dissolved into chaos.

Even the officers' shouted commands were drowned out by the roar of clashing blades.

From shattered decks to deep within ship holds, across the sea surface and high into the air—explosions flared everywhere, wood splintering and debris flying.

The once-dominant Charlotte Family mainstays were now utterly miserable.

They were locked down by elite samurai, unable to break through—survival alone was already a blessing.

In this suffocating situation, they could only watch helplessly as the terrifying Oniwabanshu and reserve aces rampaged through Totto Land's army like chopping melons and vegetables.

The war had entered its most brutal phase.
