I am an assassin.
Ever since the organization took me in from the orphanage, I've been in constant training. After turning fifteen, I officially began accepting assassination missions. Now twenty-seven, I have no real complaints about my life. When I'm not on a mission, I enjoy watching animated movies and the like. But walking a dark path long enough, you're bound to encounter ghosts. This time, my mission hit a snag: the number of bodyguards far exceeded initial estimates, and I took five or six bullets. These wounds are fatal.
As I gradually lost consciousness, I felt little regret. I'd always known this would be my end—it was just a matter of time. My only real regret was that I hadn't finished watching *My Hero Academia*, the anime I'd been following recently. I quite enjoyed it. With this absurd thought, I left the world.
"The child and mother are both safe. The delivery went very smoothly!" a woman's voice said.
"This baby hardly cries at all. So well-behaved!" another woman's voice added.
A group of people chattered around me, and a man was crying and laughing at the same time, which irritated me.
Wait, what's going on? Shouldn't I be dead already?
"My precious son, welcome to our family," a frail woman said gently, holding me in her arms with a smile.
