The plane hummed beneath us — that low, steady vibration that either lulled you to sleep or reminded you of everything you were flying back to.

The word used to sound like a promise. Now it just sounded... messy.
I rested my head against the window, watching the clouds blur into streaks of gold and white. London was behind us, the hours shrinking fast, and soon we'd land right where everything started.
Mia, Brooke, Drake, and Andrew were flying in on another plane with Section E. Keifer and I had taken his private jet instead.
"Jay," Keifer whispered in my ear, "you okay?"
"Yeah, just thinking," I murmured.
"Okay," he said softly, kissing my forehead.
Two hours later, we touched down in Manila. The humid air wrapped around me — thick and familiar. I hadn't realized how much I missed it until that moment. Beside me, Keifer looked around, taking in everything with quiet curiosity, a small smile tugging at his lips.
