Jay's POV
The air felt poisonous — thick with tension . Oliver sat there, his calm smile slicing through the chaos like a knife. My heart pounded so violently I thought he could hear it. Brooke's muffled scream echoed faintly through the gag.
"Surprised to see me?" Oliver's voice was cold, almost playful. "You should've known I'd find you sooner or later, Jay."
My jaw clenched. "You should've stayed buried in the ashes you created," I snapped.
He stood, a grin flickering against face. "Ah yes. The ashes of your father, wasn't it? The Mariano's CEO himself… such a loss."
My breath hitched. The room spun. I reached for my gun, but before I could aim, two of his men pressed the barrels of their weapons against my temple.
Then, suddenly, the doors behind me crashed open.
"Get your hands off her!" a familiar voice roared with anger.
Keifer.
The Wolves stormed in, guns raised. Section E. My family not by blood but by heart.
Shots shattered the silence. Oliver ducked, flipping a table for cover. Screams. Smoke. The sharp sting of burning gunpowder in the air.
"Rory, Edrix — now!" Keifer shouted .
Somewhere above us, the lights flickered out. The building's system glitched — the hackers were in. Doors locked, alarms blared, sprinklers sprayed. For a moment, it felt like we had the upper hand.
But then, everything went wrong.
A loud gunshot hit keifer's chest. His voice faltered. I turned just in time to see him stumble backward, his hand pressed to his chest, blood spilling beneath his fingers.
"No," I choked, rushing forward as bullets whizzed past.
He fell into my arms. His breath came in shallow gasps. "Jay…" His eyes searched mine, filled with pain, regret, and something deeper — love.
"Don't talk," I pleaded, trembling as I tried to stop the bleeding.
He smiled faintly, blood on his lips. "I love you more until scientists find the end of the universe, I'm so sorry."
Another gunshot rang out, and I felt the heat of it graze past me. Drake was shouting something, Mia crying into the comms , Andrew finally breaking free from his bindings. The world turned into chaos — machines failing, lights flickering, the air thick with grief.
Oliver watched, almost entertained. "Romantic, isn't it?" he said. "But this is how all weak men die Watson right ? Keizer's son ? — for love that blinds them."
Rage ignited inside me. I rose, heartbroken but furious. "You want to see what love can destroy?"
I fired.
The recoil burned my palms. Oliver staggered, clutching his shoulder, but he was still standing, smirking through the pain. "You'll never kill me, Jay. You're too much like your father."
Through the smoke, the Wolves regrouped, Edrix's voice cutting through the comms. "We've got their system. Thirty seconds and the whole place goes dark."
"Do it," I hissed.
Sparks showered from the ceiling as the power grid overloaded. In the darkness, I could only hear the sound of footsteps, gunfire, and my own broken breathing. When the emergency lights flicked back on, Oliver was gone.
Keifer's body lay still, his hand still in mine. His breathing unsteady but still there.
I sank to the floor, sobbing. Drake smashed his fist into the wall. Andrew stared blankly at the blood-soaked floor. We rushed Keifer into the car driving as fast as we could .
Mia's voice crackled through the comm, trembling. "Jay… we lost signal. What happened?"
I swallowed hard, tears mixing with dust and blood.
"He's gone," I whispered " Oliver is gone" I said louder.
And as the alarms blared in the distance, something died inside me too — mercy.
