Chapter 37 - Chapter 35 Announcement of Prom

Jay's POV

The morning felt… normal.

And after everything we'd been through, normal felt unreal.

I walked into school with Keifer beside me, his hand loosely holding mine like it was the most natural thing in the world. The hallways were loud—lockers slamming, laughter echoing, students rushing to class—but something about today felt different. Lighter.

Section E energy was already buzzing.

Calix was arguing with Mayo about something useless, Kit was pretending to sleep while standing, Felix looked like he'd rather vanish, and Eren—obviously—was flirting with someone new.

I shook my head, smiling.

Yep. Still chaos.

The bell rang, and we all dragged ourselves into the auditorium for the so-called "important announcement." I sat between Keifer and Aries, already sensing trouble.

The principal walked up to the mic, cleared his throat dramatically, and said,

"Good morning, students."

A collective groan.

Then—

"As this academic year comes to an end, we are happy to announce…"

Everyone leaned forward.

"…this year's PROM NIGHT."

The auditorium exploded.

Cheers. Whistles. Screams.

Calix nearly fell off his seat.

Mayo shouted, "FINALLY!"

Kit woke up like his life depended on it.

I blinked.

Prom? Already?

Keifer slowly turned his head toward me, a small smile playing on his lips.

"Prom, huh?" he said.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Don't tell me Watson Enterprises CEO is scared of a dance."

He smirked.

"Wifey, I'm scared of nothing—except stepping on your foot."

I laughed softly.

Behind us, Aries leaned forward.

"PROM? This is serious business."

Percy—who had somehow appeared beside him—snorted.

"Serious? You'll probably analyze zodiac compatibility before asking someone."

"Says the man who color-codes his outfits," Aries shot back.

I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing.

God, I missed this.

The principal continued talking about dates, themes, and dress codes, but Section E had already mentally checked out.

Calix whispered loudly,

"Okay but who's going with who?"

Mica elbowed him.

"You're already taken, Romeo."

Erdix leaned toward Freya.

"Matching outfits?"

Freya smiled.

"Already planned."

Felix sighed.

"I'll just go… alone."

Eren clapped him on the shoulder.

"Bro, I'll lend you one of my girlfriends."

"COUNTLESS," someone yelled.

I turned to Keifer again.

He was looking at me—not teasing, not joking—just… warm.

"So," he said quietly, "prom."

My heart did that stupid little thing again.

I pretended to think.

"Hmm. I don't know. Depends."

He leaned closer.

"On?"

"On whether my husband asks me properly."

For a second, he just stared.

Then he stood up.

In the middle of the auditorium.

I grabbed his sleeve in panic.

"KEIFER—sit down—"

Too late.

He turned to face me, completely ignoring the stares, the whistles, the shocked teachers.

"Jay Watson," he said calmly, confidently, "will you go to prom with me?"

The entire Section E LOST IT.

"SAY YES!"

"BRO THAT'S HIS WIFE."

"THIS IS ILLEGAL LEVELS OF CUTE."

My face burned.

I stood up too, laughing, emotional, overwhelmed.

"Yes," I said softly.

Then louder, "Yes, hubby."

He smiled—the kind that made the whole world feel okay—and sat back down, squeezing my hand.

As the noise slowly died down, I leaned my head on his shoulder.

After monsters, hospitals, fear, and loss…

We were here.

Talking about prom.

And somehow, that felt like the biggest victory of all. 💫
