While my room upstairs had finally fallen into quiet stillness, the atmosphere on the other side of the Norton estate was anything but peaceful.

Fabian pushed open the door and walked inside with a dark expression. Ashley had already changed into a silk nightgown and was waiting for him. The moment she saw him, she hurried over and wrapped her arms around his.
"Fabian, where have you been?" she asked sweetly. "I've been waiting for you for so long after my shower."

"Ashley," he said slowly, "is there something you want to explain to me?"
