We sat in a living space, which was also pink. The space had a long table and about eight chairs.
The one window had its curtains flying about. Someone must have left the window open. Meh.
Yuna sipped her steaming cup of... something brown? At the head of the table, while I sat to her right. The drink actually smelled pretty good. Then began to speak. "Nero, I have a task for you."
"A job already, am I going to kidnap any princesses?"
"No"
"Speaking of princesses, what happened to Maya? Is she alright?" This is bad. I completely forgot about her, and I was the one who saved her first. Now I just sound like a fake guy, which in this case I might be. I only remembered because of what she said.
Cracking his knuckles, Remen sat across from me. "Don't bother, you will be seeing her soon enough."
A second chance, maybe?
"Ya' see, she's the niece of the ruler of this place," she is? But Remen continued, "The king's brother married into Neon Republic nobility, for Politics…However…"
Remen looked at Yuna wearily as she kept drinking her brown drink with pure bliss written on her face, as the wind brushed through her hair.
"You're not gonna bud in and say something?"
"You took the initiative, so I thought I'd let you look cool in front of the new member."
Remen hissed and then turned to me, "Ignore her, she is short."
"The marriage was a success, but politics is a bitch, you know." No i don't know. "So we received the mission to retrieve her when things got out of control."
Well, it really got out of control if you ask me. Everyone was wiped out.
"But those guys never give up, you see, and we got word that someone's trying to snake her," Remen said as he sent a smirk Yuna's way.
"Your job is to protect her and take her back to the king's grounds," she dropped her cup, seemingly finished. "Any questions?"
"Well, isn't she supposed to be safe here? Or be with the king? That's her aunt, right?"
"Uncle"
"Yeah, yeah, uncle."
"Bwaaahahah!" Remen slammed the table, unable to contain himself.
Fuck this guy, it's not that funny. There are a lot of things I don't know; leave me alone.
"Ask all those questions again, when you're done with the mission," Yuna said as she adjusted her hair from the blowing breeze.
"But those seem important, i n—"
Yuna rolled her eyes and looked right at the window that was facing her face, the curtains blowing without care. "Hmm. I suppose you could finish that…then fix what you broke, maybe then you'd still want to know."
I followed her gaze and carefully looked through the raging curtains. Oh my.
"It wasn'–"
"Shut it already," Remen said as he left his seat.
"Eat, get ready to leave. I will tell you exactly where Maya was last spotted."
"Yes…"
There was nothing left to say. I was caught red-handed. Why did I decide to jump out of a window again? And I forgot about it too, fuck.
